Adult Only Resort Help

Hi All. Looking for a hotel with some specifics wants hoping someone can help.

We are in our 40's and looking for an all inclusive adults only resort.

Some other must haves:

Balcony with amazing ocean view

No dinner reservations

Good atmopshere with some fun atmosphere

We are regulars at Golden Parnasuss in Cancun but want to try somewhere new. Budget is really not an issue because we realize the kind of hotel we seek usually is fairly good priced. We are more concerned with our must haves ;)

We will be going with some other couples ages 35-48.

Just starting my research so looking forward to hearing about some things.

Thanks

Iberostar Grand is a good place to start looking. Amazing ocean views is sometimes a difficulty because the buildings are not high and are usually recessed from the beach. Specifically about the views I cannot say, but start researching other qualities the hotel has starting with their website and then the reviews.

Golden Parnasuss in Cancun looks like a great resort. Thanks for sharing the information with us. To answer your question, I would recommend you look into Excellence Punta Cana. They have amazing rooms in the Ocean View category.

Flipflop man is an expert on Excellence. Hopefully he'll join in this thread as he will be able to provide you with great information and access to his photo albums of Excellence, which are amazing.

Happy travels!

Just a comment on the ocean view request... as was previously mentioned, unlike in Cancun, where there are high rises, with an entire side of a hotel building facing the water, the hotel room buildings in PC tend to run perpendicular to the beach.... extending from close to the beach back towards the lobby end of the resort, with the pool area in the middle. So, each resort will have some ocean front rooms, but those will be in short supply, and you can expect to pay a premium for them.

I know you said that budget isn't really an issue which is certainly lucky for you... but if it does become a consideration, I'd lean more towards taking an ocean view room at a better resort than an ocean front room at a lesser resort. Always better to have the worst house in the best neighborhood rather than the best house in the worst neighborhood.....

n2pizza: You got me going here with the Golden Parnasuss (lol)....this is my kind of resort, small, adults only, good food, good service.

Can I ask you about the Animation and Entertainment at night. Is there animation through the day. If so, which activities do they plan/do. What about at night, can you describe a bit the type of entertainment that takes place.

Thanks!

I was hoping I was wrong about my findings regarding ocean view rooms. I will check out the resorts mentioned Excellence was one on my list.

OttawaKristie- where are some of the places you love? By your comments you seem like my kind of traveler...

I love talking about the Golden....so thanks for the questions. There entertainment staff is fabulous. If you want to participate(which I suggest) fine but if not it is fine too. Great for people watchers.

This trip we vowed to participate in any activities available and it was a blast. During the day they have the typical tequila volleyball, in the morning they had water aerobics (which was awesome cuz we were a fun bunch)they had poolside bingo and trivia kind of stuff all day.

At night there were shows...kinda cheesy but a good time. We took salsa lessons. We also hung out in the hot tub and met some great people. (We were the overflow of the infamous tiki bar)

One night they had a fabulous poolside dinner with games. Hubby and I actually won a free trip.

Gosh makes me wonder why I want to try a new place. LOL.

We have been 3 times and just wanted to see what else was out there.

FYI...the golden is a NOT a 5 star resort. But the service and atmoshere make it worth it.

Thanks for the help so far....the oceanview would be a deal breaker as ridiculous as that sounds.....

n2pizza: If you like activities and entertainment, Excellence is the place to go to. They have activities all day long - at night from 8:00 to 9:00 they have a live band, followed by professional dominican entertainment, followed by more live music. They have a casino and a disco. The place is so much fun. The food and service are amazing. Adults only - 8 à la carte restaurants - no reservations required. Huge beach, very spacious not overcrowded.

I never thought I would ever be interested in going to Cancun, but boy the Golden looks great. I'm not crazy about those sky rise buildings...but we can't win them all (lol)

The IB Grand and the Sanctuary are your two best options...
