Beach bar or restaurant off the Majestic Elegance resort?

Hi Everyone!

The husband and I just booked our trip to Majestic Elegance for late October. We were hoping to get off the resort and have a drink at a bar on the beach or something with a view- I've read of Jellyfish and Kukua- any suggestions? and are they walkable or a short taxi ride from the resort? Do you know if they have anything going on at night (would love someplace to have a casual drink and listen to some music past 10pm)? Lastly, I'm looking for dinner options off the resort- we're celebrating our wedding anniversary and looking for something different (I read about Fuego). Thanks for all the help!!

Hi there

Nearest place for something like that would be Cortecito. $25 ew in a taxi..

There is also Macao beach.. There's a small beach restaurant at the far right hand side of the beach.. Nothing fancy but great location & good food...

You can get there with a Guagua from the gate of the Barcelo. But taxi is a better option. $20 ew..

Sparky, Thank you so much! is El Photobar the one that you mention in the previous post that is in Macao Beach (pics look fun and the food looks yummy)? Is it safe? Do you know how far Jellyfish or Kukua are located? thanks!

No El Photo is in Cortecito. Which is South of where you'll be. Macao beach is closer to the north..

Macao would be a day time place whilst Photo bar would be evenings..

Not sure on distances for the other 2..

Everywhere is safe as long as you use common sense...No dark alleys at night, try not to flaunt your wealth..

Photobar is in the heart of Cortecito so you could wander around the area no probs. Not that much to see though..

Take a look at these maps, distances are to scale, Majestic resorts are on Map 3

Kukua is about 3/4 mile walk south of your resort.

Jelly FIsh is on Map 4, about 20 minute taxi ride, will probably cost around 35 dollars one way. According to their website they offer free transporation back to your hotel with dining reservations. http://jellyfishrestaurant.com/gethere.html

El Photobar is not always as lively as shown in those pics! their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/39923532131/

Balicana is another chilled dining option (good Asian food, great friendly service) inland but set around landscaping and a pool. In Los Corales south of Cortecito. http://www.facebook.com/BalicanaAsianFood

El Rincon Magico in Los Corales/Cortecito - set on the beach, often has live music, popular with residents for dining and drinks.

Hola,

Kukua is 5-10 minutes on foot from the beach, between Bahia Principe and Riu. Good place but expensive for what they offer.

If you want to have good food and a lovely experience you have to go to Balicana or Noah; service is above average for what the area offers and the quality food-price is great.

For the experience on the beach, Jellyfish is a good option even though is expensive and sometimes the service is not adequate for what they charge.

Right in front of the Jellyfish there is a boat called La Barcaza, you might consider to rent for the night (if they do not have weddings they offer it to you) and that will be very romantic for an anniversary celebration.

Lastly, even if it is not romantic at all, I suggest you Asador de Antonio in Plaza Brisas, the best meat you can find in the areas is served there.

Un saludo

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and the map. I was looking at some of these options on puntacanatv and some say beach party or dj- do you know first hand if any of them offer this on weekends (or is it worth the walk or taxi to get there)? I also saw noir lounge, vista beach lounge and acqua- thoughts on those? thanks!
