20 year anniversary trip help!!!!

Hubby and I will be visiting Punta Cana end of February for our 20 year anniversary. I am so confused about the resorts and where to book. We never get away. We have a son that has been sick most of his life and a trip like this has never been a option so we want it to be perfect. I am 39, he is 41 and we are not really into a partying atmosphere. A casino would be fun but not a must have!!! Things that are important to us:

Calmer water

Beach service

Room close to beach. Do not want to have to walk a long way to get to beach.

No reservations for dinner

Not putting a price option because I want all options.

I really appreciate any info.

Thanks so much Mark. Any info on what building the best rooms are located? I have read some face the other resort and not as nice.

Here's a resort map: resortsmaps.com/map-SecretsRoyalBeach-PuntaC…

I only know it by reputation, and experience with Secrets elsewhere. I suggested it because I know Secrets is good, with great service, and Bavaro Beach is nice, with relatively calm water, and no reservations for restaurants.

I don't know which building is best.

May I suggest the Royal Suites Turquesa, great resort in the original building, close to the beach, casino on property, new buildings are also spectacular but are a ways back from the beach.

Stay here and use the facilities of 4 resorts, no reservation necessary.

Second vote for Grand Palladium's Royal Suites! It's got everything you want and more!

Here's a link to a great site for this resort:

Here is a point of view to consider. If you start by driving a Cadillac, you will never be ok with driving a ford.

I don't get to travel as often as I would like to, and every time I do, I want a good bang for the buck. Seeing that you have not taken this kind of trip, you could go middle of the road (good quality) without all the luxury, to see what you like and what you would change for next time. If you go for the Turquesa or Iberostar grand etc, you will have a hard time going back to more of a mainstream quality, you will be constantly comparing. I you have a beyond healthy budget for all your trips, then my point is moot, but if you have an ok budget, and would like to travel more often, then consider choosing something that compares to other resorts, as opposed to choosing something that is top of the line and never be able to downgrade without feeling cheated.

You can easily go for

Palladium Palace, Punta Cana or Bavaro section and save Turquesa for a future trip, Iberostars and save the Grand, Majestic Colonial, Punta Cana princess,

Also recommend RST. Can't go wrong with Gran Palladium.

Do you want adults only and/or all-inclusive? That would limit the options somewhat.

We are going for our 25th to the Catalonia Royal for the adults only/all inclusive option. There is a casino and a calm beach from what I read, and it is not a party place-I asked about it when we were looking around.
