Which resort would be best??

We are looking for the following:

1. great beach for walking & for playing in ocean (waves are plus)

2. Nice rooms - not out dated (room we had a Dreams two years ago was in sad shape)

3. No reservations for ala cartes. We liked the pager system Dreams uses.

2 couples traveling together (no children). Just want a relaxing, comfortable environment & we do not have an high end budget.

You are certain to get many good recommendations from the members here! Ours would be for the Grand Palladium complex. Great beach location. Stay at one, play at all three. Unlimited a la cartes with no reservations required, and lots of accomodation options to choose from to fit every budget, including an adult-exclusive Royal Suites section.

Happy Travels whichever you choose!

We stayed at Palladium in Mexico in the Adults only section and loved it! Only drawback was the distance from rooms to the beach.

We have come to prefer Domincan Republic over Mexico. The beaches are much nicer.

Unlimited ala cartes in all sections of the Palladium or does it depend on which section you are in? Do they use pagers or do you have to wait in line?

The Palladium in Punta Cana is smaller than their Riveria Maya property, so even if you are in their adult Royal Suites section, it is nothing like being in Riveria Maya!

The unlimited/no reservation a la carte feature is for all guests regardless of section! If necessary, they will give you a pager. To assist you, here is a link to a very informative site for this complex:

It depends on when. In June, for example, Excellence is actually less than Dreams (if you book direct). I've been to both Dreams Punta Cana and Dreams Palm beach, and Excellence is far superior. It's just up the beach from Dreams Punta Cana, so you'll have your waves, but with a superior beach area.

No reservations for the 8 a la cartes. I believe some of the Palladium resorts do require reservations (at the Palace), and the dining options at Turquesa (adult only) are limited.
