KNC I'm looking forward to the answers you receive, but also wanted to know if you're flying out of Toronto on the 23rd and which airline. We're on an early morning flight with AC that day.

Hi

Been to ambar once going back at the end of march. I believe the water taxis are plentiful. We checked out one to go into el-cortecito down near bavaro and it was fourty bucks one way. We took a taxi instead 18.00 one way. You may be able to barter with them but I did not waste my time taxi was cheaper. I believe they have a disco but I forgot which bahia resort it is at maybe down near the casino. If you look under brooklin's postings on here he is the expert at the ambar and can answer most of your questions. Hope this helps!

Hi!

I encourage you to read Brooklin's post. It gives you an extremely comprehensive overview of the Ambar with a lot of useful tips. tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g147293-i28-k60622…

In terms of your questions:

1. I want to clarify your question. Do you mean the beach in general? Or specifically Bavaro beach? All the major hotels, Ambar included, share a giant strip of beach in Punta Cana. For most publicity, the entire stretch is referred to as Bavaro beach. Technically though, there are different parts of the beach and the Ambar is on the "Arena Gorda" beach segment.

To reach the Arena Gorda beach would take you about 3 minutes from your room tops :-). The beach is stunning there. To reach the official Bavaro beach, you might have to walk about 1.5-2 hours to the right if you're facing the water. This is off the Bahia property. Truthfully, some argue the sand is just a tiny bit softer. You won't notice the difference.

2. I've been to Punta Cana for many years now. I've never heard of a water taxi. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong...

3. As a guest at the Ambar, you can use the facilities of all the hotels in the Bahia property. This includes the "Maiko" at the Punta Cana section and the "Mikado" in the Bavaro section. If you want the hibachi / show-cooking meal, you simply need to make a reservation there and request the "Tepannyaki" seating.

There also is the new Takkara restaurant in the Esmeralda section that serves Japanese food. However, it is not show-cooking.

4. Haven't done this excursion so I can't answer.

5. The disco is all-inclusive at all times. The only place where alcohol is not included is the casino because it is not owned by the hotel. The disco is open until 2 AM every night in the "Pueblo Principe" area that is common to all hotels.

Hope this helps!

To clarify, as a guest of the Ambar, the only facilities that you cannot use are the buffets of the other Bahia hotels and the restaurant called ":Le Gourmet". The "Le Gourmet" restaurant is the gourmet restaurant for guests staying at the Punta Cana and Bavaro hotels. However, you have access to the "Don Pablo" gourmet restaurant.
