Which Hotel in Punta Cana

Hi, I have a group of six that are looking to go to Punta Cana around July 4-10,2013. We are traveling with an 18 year old, a young married couple, an older couple (50s)and a 73 year old.

We were wanting to spend about $1500 pp with airfare from Dallas included.

We would like good food, nice beach, nice rooms, and a nice property. We would prefer not too long a trip from the airport. Maybe All Adult, or at least a place that is not run over by kids. Good AC is a must as well.

The current properties that we are considering are:

Iberostar Grand Bavaro (more expensive than we would like)

Majestic Elegance

Barcelo Bavarro Palace

Excellence Punta Cana

Is the Iberostar that much better a property than the others or are some of those listed as good or better? Any other ideas in that price range?

Thanks in advance.

The only one I've been to is the Barcelo Palace, it's probably on the best beach stretch of the three. I wouldn't spend more than you want to go to the Iberostar. No doubt it's fabulous but you will be happy at either of your other choices and will have spent what you feel more comfortable with. Enjoy Punta Cana, it's beautiful!

Also, Barcelo is close to airport, Excellence is far and rougher seas. Not sure about others.

Majestic Elegance will suit your group just fine.

I second the Elegance vote.

Elegance is a nice resort, has a club section but the non club section is not crowded with kids.

It is a resort that is more adult than kids orientated and also it has evening entertainment for young aduls as well as the elders in your group.

Disco, casino but also live open air music and dacing in the evenings. I really think all would enjoy themselfs there.

Iberostar Grand Bavaro is a great place and my personal favorite. I think it is worh every penny more than you pay for other resorts. If you can stretch your buget I would do so however I wouldl discuss this with the younger people in the group as the resort is very quiet at night (I would even say boring at some times). You can go next door and enjoy the more lively bars and entertaunment of teh other Iberostar resorts though.

look into the Iberostar Bavaro, a notch down from grand , great location and beach, close to beach shopping huts (10 min walk)

Iberostar Grand Bavaro and Excellence Punta Cana might not be a good fit for the 18 year old.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace is a very large, but well layed out family resort. The Barcelo Bavaro Beach is adult only, and you have access to the Palace.

Majestic Elegance would probably be a good fit.

You might want to look at Royal Suites Turquesa as well.

Add Palladium to the mix also, good choice for various ages, will have kids but there are lots of areas to " be" that you won't feel it too much.

Punta Cana Princess is an adult only choice, ultra small for mobility issues, laid back, but the 18 year old will find the liveliness of the adjacent sister property refreshing when needed.

Won't break the bank either
