US Currency is preferred everywhere...aren't we the best?<<kidding>> I dont know about CAN but you can us dollars everywhere and I would venture to be it is more prefered

Hi folks - US dollars are the preferred choice or Dominican Peso - Canadian dollars generally are not accepted. Also, when you use US you will get US back in change generally, which is good because it can be hard to get rid of the pesos if you come back with a pocketful of them.

I agree that $US is definately preferred but my experience is that your change will probably be in $RD pesos (at least they will try)...

wait...

this is the DR; they NEVER have change (LOL).

In my experience, if you were to venture out of your resort and go to a local store (not a tourist store), it would cost about 60 pesos(roughly 2 US dollars) for a nice big bottle of presidente.

At $60RD Pesos, you are talking una Grande in a colmado - right.

Last year it was $40RD pesos; such is life in the DR. Theres even a 1 L. "family size" now.
