1 hour of boogie boarding per day is included. You need to leave a $20USD deposit when you take the board. You also can try out scuba diving for free by the pool Everything else costs money.

If you like boogie boarding, it's worthwhile. The other paid options include parasailing, banana boats, etc. You should negotiate these prices a bit.

While we have never used the free watersports at the Ambar, our friends did and it was alot more than just boogie boarding...they did all the free watersports listed and had no problem. They loved every one of them...going back in 22 days and can't wait.

pearson27,

The link posted by Hlywud is excellent.

I always try to book the hobbie cat to go sailing as soon as I get there for every day I have available as there is a limited number of them available - it is such a great location to go sailing.

Have a wonderful vacation in Punta Cana.

Is the snorkelling guided or just the equipment?

destinationbeach2012,

It definitely is just the equipment that is available - no guided tours. If you wanted a tour for snorkeling I would recommend "Marinarium Excursions" http://www.marinarium.com/

Hope this does help.

pearson27,

Here are a few of the tours I recommend:

May I also direct you to the top of this page where it states "Things to Do" - click on that and when the next page opens, click on the "Activities" tab near the top of the page.

Here you will see many great tours available - from zip lining, to truly seeing the life style and meeting the people of the Dominican Republic through "Mikes Dominican Adventures" (a must in my opinion and one which cannot be booked through the resort - only in advance through this site -http://puntacanamike.webs.com/ ), "Extreme Buggy" tours (http://www.xtreme-buggy.com), Catamaran/Snorkeling/Sailing tours at "Marinarium Excursions" (http://www.marinarium.com/) as well as a deep sea fishing charter through "Mikes Marina" Fishing Charter (http://www.mikesmarina.info/ )and cannot be booked through the resort - only through this site, the "Macao Surf Camp" for surfing (macaosurfcamp@gmail.com )

Many offer half and full day tours and all will arrange for you to be picked up at your resort and returned.

You can certainly book many tours from your tour operator right at the resort - just ask them when you have your Welcome Meeting with them no later than the first morning after you arrival.

The snorkeling is not very good in front of the Ambar - any tours would take you to other locations - there are many that offer snorkeling - "Bavaro Splash" for example.

Hope this does assist you.
