RST or IGB can't decide

My husband and I can't decide which resort to go with and wondering if the IGB is worth the extra money. We are wanting to have a vow renewal ceremony on the beach. And also wondering if the swim up suites at IGB are worth the extra money??? And also is mid November an ok time with weather???

well, I love the RST, but I must say I am biased as we have been to the RST 10X. the grand has a hefty price tag, I put in my dates of Oct 1 and the IGB was 1000$ more then the RST for 1 week for 2 people..................it really comes down to how much you are willing to spend. As I said we love the RST and like to vacation twice a year, at the prices of the I|GB we could not do that. for a special occasion maybe you could justify the price. there are many who love the Grand, but IMHO it looks to grand for me LOL. the grand does have more in their section then the RST, but at the Grand Palladium those things are offered at the sister resorts, so for me it comes down to how do you feel about having to go to the sister resorts for the shows, the spa, and 8 a la cartes, the RST has 2 exclusive a la cartes. and how do you feel about the potential of having to see kids? we rarely leave the RST grounds, love the 2 restaurants and hardly feel the need to leave the RST

As far as the beaches, how do they compare? Are they about the same? And which rooms do you recommend at the RST?

Oh and also do you know if November is a good time, weather wise, to stay there?

well Nov is still hurricane season, that said we go in Oct ( 2 trips and have had no issue) punta cana historically does not get hit by hurricanes, at least not directly. my fave room at the RST is the Deluxe swim up suite because at least when we had that suite ( Oct 2012) it felt like it was our own private pool and the waitress just kept bringing drinks.............kind of like it was our home and it was our staff LoL that said I cant say that I dislike any rooms in the RST, I like all of them for different reasons, my least fave and the only one other then the presidential suite that I have no stayed in is the romance suites as I dont care for the the location of these rooms.

I also love the RST and my favorite room would be the Romance swim-up. They are similar to the deluxe, but without the extra wall and second tv. The romance suites are only on the corners of building 53 and 54, so there aren't that many of them. They are absolutely beautiful.

Having been to both of the resorts you mention, I would say the Palladium is a far better deal for what you are paying. Also, there are details of the RST that I much prefer over the Iberostar, just my opinion.

Mid November is still hurricane season, so no one can predict the weather. Punta Cana, I've been told is what some refer to as a hurricane hole, whereas, the storms look like they will hit head on and at the last minute, they veer north or south and rarely hit head on.

Haven't been to the RST - did stay at the neighbouring Grand Palladium and enjoyed it very much. Have been to the Iberostar Grand Bavaro and the Iberostar Bavaro and loved both. There is no need to ever leave the Grand if you want to - there are four a la cartes as well as a fantastic buffet restaurant. Lobby bar; disco on the ship and they do have their own gym and spa and theatre for nightly shows. You also get free golf. The only thing they don't have is their own casino (it's at the sister family resort). You will not see any kids here - security is very strict.

Personally, I don't care for the location of the Grand's swim-ups - they're very shady and facing the back of the Iberostar Bavaro. We stayed in a regular junior suite - oceanfront suites look great and could be worth the upgrade if you spend a lot of time on your balcony.

Our trip to the Grand was a once-in-a-lifetime thing (my hubby's treat for my 50th bday) - definitely worth the money if you can afford it as it is the ultimate in luxury.

By the way, we went at the end of November (around American Thanksgiving) - hot and sunny with an occasional shower

I agree go to the Iberostar Grand for sure, but as already said the swim outs at the Iberostar Grand do not really get much sun and no view at all.................Only good thing about the swim ups is you can use your pool anytime you wish.................

The RST is much closer to the airport, so the transfer time is quite reasonable (1/2 hour). Both beaches are great. The swim-up (Deluxe suite) is a great way to extend your vacation. With the swim-up you have the best of both worlds ... the ocean beach and the pool environment.

Nothing wrong with the November weather. Punta cana does not seem to experience the hurricane storms that mexico and other environments do.

I've been to both Palladium and Iberostar and there's not that much difference in distance from the airport - 5/10 minutes at most. When we went to the Grand we had private transfer included with our package so that was a nice bonus.
