Leaving The Hard Rock Tomorrow....Any Questions?

This was by far one of the best vacations we have ever been on. I will be happy to answer any questions. Most of the bad reviews are bogus. We have experienced first class service.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your post! We will be heading to the HR in June for my 40th birthday, 3 active couples, no kids. :)

We are looking forward to a good balance of relaxing on the beach or by the pool (drink in hand) and partying it up a little. We plan to do an excursion or two, golf once, go to the spa and hopefully do some gambling and dancing.

What is the nightlife like there? I don't care about the "shows". Been there, done that at other resorts. Is the only dancing at the Oro nightclub? Have you been there? We will probably go there for one night, but I know it's expensive and so don't think we'd do it more than once. What else is there to do at night besides Oro?

Is there a fun, adult party-vibe at some of the pools? Or mainly families, and/or 20-somethings getting hammered?? I can see us wanting some quite, relaxing time and also some fun Vegas-style party time. (We went to Vegas for my hubby's 40th last year and had a blast!!)

Have you spent any time in the casino? We like to play craps. I'd love to hear if there's a fun craps table there. Is the casino active? Or just lots of people playing slots?

Are there any organized fitness classes? Yoga, bootcamp, zumba, etc? Might be fun to try one.

Have you been to the Eden pool? I know it's top-optional, and I'm wondering if this is used in this way very often? I've read mixed reviews.

Hmmm... What else...

Did you happen to upgrade to Concierge service? If so, is it worth it?

We are "Legendary" Hard Rock members, but not "Presidential" members. And this is our first time traveling as members, so I'm not sure what to expect.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, etc.

Thanks so much!

Amy

“Perfect Vacation!”

Reviewed April 21, 2013 NEW

First off I do not understand how anybody can give this resort a bad rating. We stayed in a Rock Star level suite. Building 4 which was great. We were greeted at the front when we got out of our taxi. We were then taken strait to VIP check in and given champagne. We were then taken to our room were we met Javier(our butler) who was great. He then told us all about the resort and how to use our resort credits he gave us his cell phone # and told us to call him if we needed anything. Which we did and he was extremely prompt in helping us get whatever we wanted(extra towels, fridge restock,ect.... He booked all kinds of stuff for us including 2 couples massages, the romantic dinner, the chill out excursion, and dinner reservations for which ever restaurants we wanted. I think with the Rock Star level you do not have to wait as long as the other guest so after the first dinner reservations we did not make any more. I don't know if we were treated any different because of the Rock Star level, but I do not have a thing to complain about. It seemed the entire staff was more than happy to help with anything we wanted. We had some great conversations with the bartenders. They said that the Hard Rock treated them correctly which made them happy employees. He said that he had worked at some of the other resorts in the area and they did not treat their employees nearly as well. The only reason I am including this in my review is because this is important to me. It is extremely hard to fake happy and it makes a huge difference in the level of service in which you will receive.

THE ROOM

It was big, nice, and clean. What more do you need to know? We only slept and recovered in our room. Room service at 1 am was cool. do not order anything but the hard rock burger. You will be disappointed if you do. Not that the other stuff was bad. It is just that the burger is good! We also did breakfast room service which was one of the best breakfast that we ate.

The POOLS

We only visited 2 of the pools. The EDEN pool which was awesome from the service to the food the hammocks and bed swings. Just be aware that tops are optional here. We the other pool was the members pool which you have access to if you are ROCK STAR level. It was a little more calm but, it was a nice change. The poolside food was good here also. Burgers, fries, Nachos....

The Beach - Best I have ever seen.

WOW! If you stay with the ROCK STAR there is a place specifically for you. There are black and grey flags marking this area. It is right in front of the members pool. If you can hang out here. There is a beach bar and service here. They will bring you drinks to your chairs under the palm umbrellas. This got us in trouble a couple of times(drunk). The water was a little rough, but that was ok for us because we were not there to swim in the ocean. Only to cool off every once and a while. If you do want to swim they are building a jetty so there will be a calm place to swim.

FOOD

Toro(the steakhouse) was great. We ate here twice. I had Filet Twice. It was Great!

Zen was fun and good. The food was no better than what we got at home. I was surprised at how good the sushi was though.

Impalena (the Brazilian steakhouse)- it was ok. I wish we would have tried something else. I have never been to one and do not think it is my thing.

Pizza - Was very good for lunch. It is worth trying.

Isla - Great lunch buffet. We did not go here for dinner. I wish we would have.

The Market Buffet - We only ate here for breakfast. We found to be the best.

Caffeto - This was the small cafe. This is the only place where we were disappointed in the food. DO NOT EAT HERE! On a Positive note they make GREAT bloody marys!

The Romantic Dinner- This was my favorit meal. SURF and Turf. The lobster and steak were great and the service was excellent everybody(Hostess, server, and the Manager). There was even a guy playing the sax by the pool. It was a one of a kind dinner and worth every penny.

The ROCK SPA

We went twice! Just go you will not be disappointed. This was my first time getting a massage. I think if I get one at home I will only be disappointed. When you go make sure to arrive one hour before your appointment so you can go through there Gauntlet of Relaxation. I enjoyed the Gauntlet as much as the massage. Steam room, shower, sauna, mud room, shower, foot massager, hot tub, cold tub, hot tub....

Casino

It was a lot of fun. We found the penny slots to be tight and the dollar slot to be loose. Just your normal vegas style casino.

Bars

They were fun. SUN BAR has Karaoke. MOON BAR has a band. We had a good time at both.

Chill Out Excursion - This excursion was worth doing. It was a big party boat. With RUM and Mama Juana.

Sorry for such a long review. I just wanted to write the stuff that I would have liked to know before I went. We will most definitely be going back. Next time we go we will bring our kids. We were there to party and let loose this, but we also saw the family side of the resort. We are conservative parents and have no problem bringing our 10, 6, and 2 year old here. I hope this review help. I hope you go and enjoy as much as we did. If you get a butler ask for Javier, you will not be disappointed in his level of service.

WAIT - do you have to pay for Oro Night Club at HR? I guess I just assumed it was part of the All-Inclusive package? This would be a deal breaker for our trip next April as we are going with a group that will range from 18 - 50. The younger ones want a place on resort to go dance, drink, have fun together, but will not have the funds to pay foe entry and drinks. Thanks, in advance, for your replies.

So, just to be clear: there is no "all-inclusive nightclub at Hard Rock"? Just Oro? Thanks....this just might make our decision a bit easier.

You have to pay to get in plus you have to pay for drinks.

Hello Jeff, besides the Oro Nightclub we do have 2 others, the Sun Bar and the Moon Lounge. Besides that during regular nights, meaning when there isn't an event, the entrance is included. If there is an event our guests have a 20% discount. The drinks are not included, we hope this helps you out some. :D
