Morning Luv2trvl2,

Many differences in the resorts you have listed above. Occidental it popular with the younger party groups, Bahia is the biggest complex with 5 resorts in 1 and Rui is also a big resort with different sections.

I think the best was to go is for you to describe what type of vacation your sister and friends are looking for. With over 90 hotels in Punta Cana the very helpful TA members will be glad to point you in the right direction.

What is there budget per person? How many nights?

Do they want big, medium, small resort?

Modern, Tropical, Bit of Both?

Luxury?

Ala cartes every night? No Reservation Ala Cartes? Some Ala Cartes?

Butler service?

Top shelf liquor?

Anything else they can add to would make it a wonderful trip?

The more information the better :)

To add S-trips which is a tour operator that offers party trips for Spring Break and High School Grad are sending a group of graduates to Occidental on July 4th.

Pretty sure you sister and friends would not want to spend a week at a rowdy pool and beach with a bunch of teens partying.

Just got back from the Occidental Grand. I have stayed at most of the resorts you have listed and would pick the grand bahia.

Yes have to agree, based on those resorts they would enjoy the Bahia.

In the Bahia complex there is 5 resorts. Bavaro, Bavaro Premier, Punta Cana, Esmeralda and Ambar.

I will leave Bavaro Premier out as only select tour operators offer it.

Bavaro and Punta Cana are identical, mirror images of each other. Both these sections offer there own upgrades Club Diamond (Bavaro) and Royal Golden (Punta Cana).

These main things you get in the upgrade is rooms closer to the beach and main pool, 4 ala cartes instead of 3, access to both the Bavaro and Punta Cana lobbies. Smaller things like room service (light menu), slippers, robe, spa discount, etc.

Esmeralda and Ambar are the cream of the crop luxury sections. Esmeralda is family resort and Ambar is adults only (18+). Esmeralda is a bit newer then Ambar and they also expanded recently as well but overall Ambar is better for adults without children.

In these sections you get private beach area, private pool, butler service, ala cartes every night, premium liquor, access to the whole Bahia complex and much much more.

If the Ambar section is within budget then that might interest them. As far as Bavaro and Punta Cana sections go since they are mirror images of one another either section.

Below is an old activity sheet so you can see what takes place at during the day by the pools/beach and at night. Disregard the times they're old.

Here is the resort map.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below I have pasted the complete detailed info about the Bahia complex courtesy of Bahia Guru/Expert Brooklin Bubba King John.

----------

The Bahia resort complex in Punta Cana actually consists of 5 different resorts - all of which are 5 star resorts. It is the largest resort complex one one property in Punta Cana with a total combined rooms from the Bahia 5 resorts of 3,114 rooms - numerous daily & nightly activities with a large shopping and entertainment area on site, called the Pueblo Principe (map blue #14), which is exclusive to Bahia guests only.

Each resort has it's own lobby/check in, lobby bar, gourmet a la carte and main buffet.

Lets start with the Bahia Principe Bavaro resort - 864 rooms - a family resort - lobby is shown on the map as the pink #1 - guest rooms are the white numbers 21-39 and 71-79

The Bahia Principe Punta Cana resort - 708 rooms - a family resort - lobby is shown on the map as the yellow #1 - guest rooms are building numbers 1-19.

Each of these two resorts have their own upgrades - the Bavaro resort has an upgrade referred to as Club Diamond or as some tour operators will name it, Club Hacienda - these are room numbers 23 & 25-29.

The Punta Cana resort has it's upgrade called Club Golden - these are room numbers 1-10 and 20, 21, 22 & 24 - as you can see, the primary difference is the location to the beach, and there are some other benefits which are for another discussion.

Both of these resorts are basically a mirror image of each other - all guest rooms are identical - the guest room buildings are primarily 3 stories in height with a few next to the beach that are 2 stories in height. They share all amenities including the pools - map blue #4,#18 & to the left of #17.

Lets continue with the different Bahia resorts:

The Bahia Principe Bavaro-Premier - 504 rooms - a family resort - lobby is shown on map as the orange #1- guests rooms are building numbers 40-53. This resort is the furthest from the beach but is like a resort within a resort - very quaint and is available through selected tour operators. The new "Boy Scout" Water Park is near buildings #52 & #53 & is open from 8am to 6pm for children only ages 3-12 years.

The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar resort - 528 rooms - adult only - lobby is shown on the map as a beige #2 - Offers all top end services the Bahia has to offer, including a larger selection of liquors, butler service, waiter service at the beach and pool, pillow menu, room safe included in price, spa, gym, private beach area directly in front of it's main beach pool and room service 24/7. No other guests may use the services of the Ambar other than guests at the next resort I will mention, which is the Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda - and they may only do so provided they do not have children under 18 years of age with them when using the Ambar resorts facilities.

Guests of the Ambar and the Esmeralda may use all of the facilities at the other resorts with the exception of the other resorts gourmet a la cartes and main lobby buffets - that provides them a total of 8 pools to use including their own, throughout all of the Bahia resorts.

The Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda - 510 rooms - a family resort with the same Top End Services as I mentioned above for the Ambar resort, including a private beach area directly in front of their beach pool, 2 buffets, 2 pools & an adult only pool.

The rooms at the Ambar and the Esmeralda all have 4 poster canopy beds, with pillow top mattress's and a slightly different large private washroom layout.

All resorts share the large shopping and entertainment area called the Pueblo Principe (map blue #14) which contains the Casino (drinks are extra there as it is not owned by the resort), disco, smoke shop, kareoke and sports bar, patio lounge, many clothing, gift and jewellery shops, internet shop, local vendors with their wares an outdoor stage where a house band and audience participation nights are often held each evening. They also all share the large Tropicana Theatre (map blue #1) where the big nightly shows are held - two performances nightly - one performance at 9pm and the other at 10:15pm. The "Boy Scout Water Park" located near buildings #52 & #53 at the Bavaro-Premier resort, has a themed pool with many different games/slides - strictly for chiildren ages 3-12 years who are guests at any of the Bahia resorts.

Every pool throughout all resorts has swim up bars as well.

The Bahia resort complex has a very efficient tram system, should guests wish to use it, that operates 21 hours per day(6am - 3am), but I can tell you that one can walk from the Bavaro lobby buffet (map pink #6) to the large beach pool (near blue #17) in less than 10 minutes, from personal experience.

Guests at each of the Bahia resorts listed above may also "request" room locations and a la cartes preferences prior to their arrival - the latter is highly recommended in my opinion in order to provide a greater opportunity of obtaining the a la cartes of your choice, versus trying to do so no later than the first morning after your arrival."

As referred to above, the Bavaro and Punta Cana resorts do share all amenities, which includes the a la cartes, but each have their own main lobby buffet that is designated specifically for each resort..

To let the resort know you are a returning guest, send an email to Albania Batista at asistenteventasbppuj@bahia-principe.com.

Do so no sooner than 7-10 days prior to your arrival, and provide her with your names as wriitten on your booking, new booking number, date of arrival and tour operator name.

Let her know the specific details of your previous visits and at which resort(s).

I do hope that this does assist you.

Thank you all -- especially Big Jim 93 ---Did not realize it was taken as "demands". --wow

I just posted a question & put my responses next to Big Jim 93 questions so he could better get a handle on what my sis was looking for, which was above & beyond any response I expected. Big Jim 93 you really helped in her decision.

She is booking Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana today. Thank you again.

No more requests (demands) LOL
