VIK Arena Blanca is very inexpensive right now, any comments

I could go for a week, no single supplement for approx. 678$. Would you recommend it? Will I be bored as a solo traveller mid-june? Is it mosquito season? I hear the buffet does not have air conditioning, is it bothering? Any comments will be helpful...

Thank you!

Hi Maya,

I been there, not by choice, but had friends from the UK staying there so decided to give it a try. From reviewing the resort my expectations were very very low but in all honesty had a great time, workers were great, resort was good, beach perfect and overall was an excellent vacation.

There was a few downsides though. Compared to other resorts in Punta Cana I been to the food was not as good. There chicken, pizza, fries were great though.

The pool is nice but no pool bar however a few second walk brings you to a bar.

The lobby and lobby bar are extremely small, the bar is a tiny bar in the corner that holds two workers. You can either walk up and get your drinks or waitress will serve you.

Shows were great, and there was an outdoor terrace bar there as well.

They have a small disco on site but your lucky to find 10 people other then your group there. The resort is very small around 400 rooms so the disco is hit or miss depending on who is there. On the plus side at the lobby they offered a free shuttle to the Tower Princess which is the casino and disco for Bavaro Princess.

We were in Block 3 I believe in a renovated deluxe room and balcony faced the pool. Was nice standard size room, perfect for sleeping. Our friends from the UK had an ocean view room they were bigger, in front of beds was 2 steps down to tv, couch sitting area then to patio outside. View was nice they were right on the beach.

The resort is pretty small, literally takes 1 minute to walk to lobby, beach or food. I believe there was only 1 or 2 ala cartes. The good thing of a small resort is everyone travelling eventually gets to know each other so as a single traveler you will never be bored. Our first night there we meet many single travelers who we all spent the week with.

Overall though we had a great time, made many friends, workers would come meet us after their shift off the resort and the resort definitely exceeded my expectations from what I read about it prior to going there. Paying 598$ including tax from Montreal for complete package was definitely worth it.

Considering I know what the resort is like now I would definitely go back if my preferred resorts were not available.

Hope this helps you!

PS :

Last couple weeks on Itravl2000 booking 3 or 4 days in advance have had some great deals leaving Montreal. For instance Tuesday mornings for Friday departure.

Looking quickly if I wanted to go to VIK on Friday June 7th from Montreal its currently 588$ including tax.

If you have a bit of play in your booking dates, then push the limits abit and wait a few days before booking. You will save another close to a hundred from your 678$ price.

Safe Travels!

Very good description of the hotel. Couple of things to add. Rooms do not have the little extras some of the other hotels have. Toiletries & coffee machines iron & board.

But barring that it's a great little hotel.

Not too far from the center of Bavaro where you'll find a disco at the Occidental & Steves Bar. With plenty of other places a little further afield.

Wouldn't hesitate to return there.

it's in low season available for around $100.- per night per person, for room and all inclusive and including Airfare and taxes, heck, if such is not a great bang for the buck, then i don't know what could be.

nice small hotel, nice beach, of course the extras on the rooms are not as plentiful, like ironbords, coffeemaker etc, there are cut downs on the food variety etc, but they manage to provide a very good product for the low budget available to the hotel.

Have met a good number of guests from that resort and most give it a decent opinion. It is what it is...a good middle ground resort with a convenient location, smaller grounds and nice beach.

Cheers

yes, and the available great rates make those services a good bang for the buck.

and it is not big, no real walking involved to come around.

if ypou deduct from that incedible rate the airfare, the airpirt taxes, the sales taxes, the touroperators comissions, the tourist card fee, the roundtrip transfer fee etc etc, then what's left per day i bet is much less than i need to buy simple food for homecooking here in punta cana, and that leftover rate includes a room done/cleaned every day by a Maid and it includes 24/7 Foodies and drinkets.

The lower rate was for 6 days, not 7.
