Michael Jackson show

Hi we are going to the Esmerelda not until October

but hey I like to be organised.

Apparently the 2 shows not to be missed are the

Michael Jackson show & the circus show.

Could someone tell me which night of the week

these 2 shows are on?

I know you need to go over to the main resort

entertainment area for this.

It's just that we like to eat quite late when on

holiday (8.30ish) so when we send in our

a la carte requests nearer the time we will

either ask for an earlier sitting or stick to the

main buffet (again go earlier than normal for us)

Any help would be appreciated and notes will

go in my book that is already half full of useful

information thanks to Bigjim & Bubba King :-))

MJ show used to be Monday night and they used to have two shows one at 9:00 and one at 10:15. Not sure about the circus show, nothing beats the MJ one! Enjoy your vacation.

The Michael Jackson show is on a Monday at the moment and if you want a seat you'll need to get to the theatre before 8-45, by just after 9 it was standing room only the other week.

Just my opinion but never understood this attraction for the "Michael Jackson show. in the toruist centres. The Dominican Republic has an incredibly rich musical heritage - try and find some Juan Luis Guerra music (the local mega star) - infinitely better than MJ iMO. These hotels should be promoting Dominican talent.

Hi Millie,

Monday is Michael Jackson.

Thursday used to be Circus and likely still is.

The resort has reverted to low season and currently only 1 show at 9:45pm. This will likely be the only show time when you go in October.

They will then revert back to 2 shows likely early December.

When you arrive at the resort you will be given an activity sheet listing what takes place day and night.

Below is an example. DISREGARD THE TIMES they are old. It is only for you to see what takes place.

To add -

Looks like the Bahia did update the activity sheet times on that link compared to an older activity sheet they had up a couple months ago.

In any event it is just an example and you should always refer to the most recent copy given to you at the resort.

Hi guys thanks for the info x

Another question answered thank you.

PS Domingouk I do intend to enjoy the

local talent as well as it is part of the reason

we go abroad to experience these different

cultures and there music whilst drinking a

cocktail or 2 :-))

That is the reason why when we travel for nearly

10 hours on a plane we come for 2 weeks so we

can experience as much as possible it's just that I

was a huge fan of Michael Jackson in his prime &

my daughter who will be 22 on the day of our arrival

is and always has been mad about circus acts as long

as animals are not involved!

Sorry Millie - it wasn;t a criticism of you and hope you enjoy it, more a comment on the lack of originality from the entertainment people of these hotels. When we stayed at an AI resort last year in PC the shows looked like Saturday night variety TV from the 1980s.

I've seen the Michael Jackson show and other shows at a few different resorts in Punta Cana.

I'd have to say the one at Gran Bahia is really good compared to others. Seen it 3 times.

I don't get the MJ obsession - someone lip synching and dancing reasonably well, but nothing you don't see in a local nightclub when his music comes on (moonwalk, spin)

At EPC last year, on the other hand, we were wowed by the circus show - those guys were super talented, so strong, I was enthralled! Other places could learn a thing or two from that show!

I don't get the MJ shows either, never seen one, nor would I travel to the D.R. to see "that". Would much rather experience the local talent.

It's kinda like going to Alaska to see Hawaian dancers LOL
