Just Booked Bahia Ambar and have a couple of questions

My wife and I just booked this resort to celebrate our anniversary during the 3rd week of July and we have been to DR but not to this resort. I have a couple of questions that I need some help with. I understand staying at the Ambar allows us Ala Carte restaurants every night. Are we able to choose any restaurants at the adjoining Bahia's or just certain ones? Are we able to eat at any of the buffets at the other Bahia's or just the buffet at Ambar? It appears that although the Ambar has a Spa, the Bahia Bavaro has the nicer Spa, are we able to enjoy the services of this Spa also? Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Re: Just Booked Bahia Ambar and have a couple of questions

Hi Buildernc,

As a guest of the Ambar you have access to the entire resort except the other resort buffets. You can only use the buffet at the Ambar.

Ambar guests may use the spa at the Esmeralda as well as at the Ambar and the spa for the Bavaro/Premier and Bavaro guests.

Below will be an extensively long message with pretty much everything you need to know about the Ambar and Bahia complex courtesy of Bahia Guru/ Expert Brooklin Bubba King John.

Safe Travels!

=========================

Here is the resort map.

www.resortsmaps.com/popup.html…

-------------------------------

The Bahia resort complex in Punta Cana actually consists of 5 different resorts - all of which are 5 star resorts. It is the largest resort complex one one property in Punta Cana with a total combined rooms from the Bahia 5 resorts of 3,114 rooms - numerous daily & nightly activities with a large shopping and entertainment area on site, called the Pueblo Principe (map blue #14), which is exclusive to Bahia guests only.

Each resort has it's own lobby/check in, lobby bar, gourmet a la carte and main buffet.

Lets start with the Bahia Principe Bavaro resort - 864 rooms - a family resort - lobby is shown on the map as the pink #1 - guest rooms are the white numbers 21-39 and 71-79

The Bahia Principe Punta Cana resort - 708 rooms - a family resort - lobby is shown on the map as the yellow #1 - guest rooms are building numbers 1-19.

Each of these two resorts have their own upgrades - the Bavaro resort has an upgrade referred to as Club Diamond or as some tour operators will name it, Club Hacienda - these are room numbers 23 & 25-29.

The Punta Cana resort has it's upgrade called Club Golden - these are room numbers 1-10 and 20, 21, 22 & 24 - as you can see, the primary difference is the location to the beach, and there are some other benefits which are for another discussion.

Both of these resorts are basically a mirror image of each other - all guest rooms are identical - the guest room buildings are primarily 3 stories in height with a few next to the beach that are 2 stories in height. They share all amenities including the pools - map blue #4,#18 & to the left of #17.

Lets continue with the different Bahia resorts:

The Bahia Principe Bavaro-Premier - 504 rooms - a family resort - lobby is shown on map as the orange #1- guests rooms are building numbers 40-53. This resort is the furthest from the beach but is like a resort within a resort - very quaint and is available through selected tour operators. The new "Boy Scout" Water Park is near buildings #52 & #53 & is open from 8am to 6pm for children only ages 3-12 years.

The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar resort - 528 rooms - adult only - lobby is shown on the map as a beige #2 - Offers all top end services the Bahia has to offer, including a larger selection of liquors, butler service, waiter service at the beach and pool, pillow menu, room safe included in price, spa, gym, private beach area directly in front of it's main beach pool and room service 24/7. No other guests may use the services of the Ambar other than guests at the next resort I will mention, which is the Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda - and they may only do so provided they do not have children under 18 years of age with them when using the Ambar resorts facilities.

Guests of the Ambar and the Esmeralda may use all of the facilities at the other resorts with the exception of the other resorts gourmet a la cartes and main lobby buffets - that provides them a total of 8 pools to use including their own, throughout all of the Bahia resorts.

The Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda - 510 rooms - a family resort with the same Top End Services as I mentioned above for the Ambar resort, including a private beach area directly in front of their beach pool, 2 buffets, 2 pools & an adult only pool.

The rooms at the Ambar and the Esmeralda all have 4 poster canopy beds, with pillow top mattress's and a slightly different large private washroom layout.

All resorts share the large shopping and entertainment area called the Pueblo Principe (map blue #14) which contains the Casino (drinks are extra there as it is not owned by the resort), disco, smoke shop, kareoke and sports bar, patio lounge, many clothing, gift and jewellery shops, internet shop, local vendors with their wares an outdoor stage where a house band and audience participation nights are often held each evening. They also all share the large Tropicana Theatre (map blue #1) where the big nightly shows are held - two performances nightly - one performance at 9pm and the other at 10:15pm. The "Boy Scout Water Park" located near buildings #52 & #53 at the Bavaro-Premier resort, has a themed pool with many different games/slides - strictly for chiildren ages 3-12 years who are guests at any of the Bahia resorts.

Every pool throughout all resorts has swim up bars as well.

The Bahia resort complex has a very efficient tram system, should guests wish to use it, that operates 21 hours per day(6am - 3am), but I can tell you that one can walk from the Bavaro lobby buffet (map pink #6) to the large beach pool (near blue #17) in less than 10 minutes, from personal experience.

Guests at each of the Bahia resorts listed above may also "request" room locations and a la cartes preferences prior to their arrival - the latter is highly recommended in my opinion in order to provide a greater opportunity of obtaining the a la cartes of your choice, versus trying to do so no later than the first morning after your arrival.

================================

The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar - room building numbers 60-70

Building 60, 64, 67 are closet to the beach. 3rd floor corner rooms will give you a nice view. All corner rooms have king size bed.

In building 60 - it would be room numbers -

60101 & 60108 - first floor

60201 & 60208 - second floor

60301 & 60308 - 3rd floor

In building 64:

64101 & 64108

64201 & 64208

64301 & 64308

In building 67:

67101 & 67108

67201 & 67208

67301 & 67308

ROOM REQUESTS - Send an email "request" for a room building location to Albania Batista at:

asistenteventasbppuj@bahia-principe.com

Ala Carte Requests = send an email "request" to Idelin Rijio at:

gerenterrppbpamb@bahia-principe.com

Please do so No Sooner than 7-10 days prior to your arrival. Also provide her with your names, booking number (from your tour operator), date of arrival, tour operator name and a la carte "requests" on which preferred day and time (early, mid evening or late dining time is fine as well to state) - a la cartes are open from 6:30pm - 10:30pm.

===========================

Guests at the Esmeralda and Ambar are entitled to dine at an a la carte each night of their stay.

Pre booked a la cartes may be changed at your Guest Services department should the need arise.It is always respectful if for some reason you cannot make it to your a la carte any evening, that you do notify the guest services department so that they may provide some one else with the option of using the available table.

Please remember, "requests" are just that - a "request" and as such are always subject to availability - they certainly will try their very best to accommodate you.

====================================

The main lobby buffet is open every day from 6:30pm to 10:30pm but on Thursday night for Gala night (seafood theme) it opens at 6:00pm. Due to the popularity of the Thursday night "Gala" seafood event, you require a reservation for this one night only - seating times at the buffet are 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 8:00pm and 8:30pm. For the a la cartes, simply request a early, mid evening or late dining time - they will try their very best to accommodate you.

Request the buffet seating time with your a la carte reservations requests when you pre-book them.

Here are the a la cartes available to you starting with the most popular.

The Don Pablo - gourmet - located at the Ambar resort

The Bella Italia - Italian - located at the Esmeralda

The Garden Grill - steakhouse - located at the Punta Cana resort

The Takara - Asian - located at the Esmeralda resort

The El Olivio - Mediterranean - located at the Ambar

The Portofino - Italian - located at the Ambar

The Maiko - located at the Bavaro resort

The Sante Fe - Tex-Mex - located at the Bavaro resort

The El Meson - Spanish - located at the Bavaro resort

==============================

---------------------------------

Here is what the resort states that the butler service may do for you:

- unpacking your luggage

- sorting your items in the drawers and closet

- taking personal care of your laundry needs (if any)

- polishing and cleaning of shoes

- arranging your dinner reservations at the a la cartes if you have not prebooked or assisting with making any changes to prebooked a la cartes with guest services dept

- obtaining your pillows you wish to order from the pillow menu (scented, memory foam etc.,) and advise if they are returned each day if you wish to maintain the same ones (scented pillows need to be removed daily and re-scented)

- bringing ice to your room for drinks if required

- getting daily press from your country or choice of country

- making sure your jacuzzi bath tub is ready for whatever time you request it -(even getting a surprise for the couple, like flower hearts, etc)

- can assist in bringing loungers brought to a location you wish to set them up at on the beach

The butler service is available at no additional cost at both the Ambar and the Esmeralda resorts.

If you do wish to have the butler service, it is important to note that you must notify the staff at the front desk of this, when you first arrive at the resort.

6. Re: Just Booked Bahia Ambar and have a couple of questions

TIP: It is at most a 5 minute walk from Ambar section to Esmeralda along the pathways (look at your resort map and you will see what I mean), but if you have mobility issues you will have to take the tram up to the main lobby (where you were originally dropped off upon your arrival) and transfer to the Esmeralda tram. It is definitely a longer route especially around supper time when the trams are much fuller plus you will still have to walk once you are dropped off so for us walking across to the other section is the way to go. (another reviewer mentioned he arranged a transfer from the Ambar lobby to Esmeralda via a single car tram but arranging that would take longer than walking!)

In my opinion the buffet at Palmyra at Ambar is superior to any of the al-a-carte restaurants at any of the Bahia resorts in this complex. I know if I return I won't even bother with the al-a-carte restaurants as the service and food were just average at best.
