Walks on beach from Catalonia Royal Bavaro

Is is possible to walk north from the Royal up along the beach. We had stayed at the GBP before and enjoyed being able to walk for miles down the beach?

You can walk for miles - about half an hour (turning left when facing the ocean, which I believe is north LOL) you will walk in front of Dreams Palm Beach, Be Live and Blau Natura. You can continue on for another hour or so and there is nothing but beach, sea and sun. There is a national park after about an hour's walk and you can't walk on that piece of beach.

If you turn right from the Cat, you again can walk for hours - nothing until you reach the airport (although we didn't quite make it that far = goal was Cap Cana which on the map looks doable, but on natural beach, a little tougher)

Enjoy. Our favourite part of going to this resort is the ability to walk for miles.

Indeed you can walk north along the beach area. Be aware it is mostly a natural ungroomed beach for about a mile. No hotels until you reach just past the small town of Cabeza de Toro. You will come to Be Live, Dreams Palm beach and Natura Park. Not sure how much further you can walk from there.

Thanks guys, it somehow makes it ok to eat more for lunch, pretend its 5 o'clock somewhere and be a reason to enjoy a nice nap when we get back. I'm guessing security isn't a problem either. I haven't heard of anything really scary around Punta Cana.

facing the water, turning left, you can walk and around 35 minutes later you reach the Beach of the animal Park, then you pass the beach with a walled off property which has a condominium property under construction, right aside you pass the Fisherman's Beach, then you see right aside that the pier and buildings of the Marinarium Excursion with their Catamarans. continuing on that beach you pass the beach restaurant which is build of a Boat on the Beach, la Proa. then you reach a area where the beach is fenced off. don't worry, you can walk around it, its not big, and you can also pass the fences on the waterside and keep walking there, no problem at all, it is the local Sportfishing Club and only in use 3 times per year druing spring-summer when 3 tournaments are held there. after the club you are right away on the beach of the BeLifeGrand Hotel, continue there the side by side located neighbours are the Dreams Palm Beach and the the Natura Park Hotel. all that time you are walking on a white sandy beach with very calm waters.

facing the water and turning right, as Cindi mentioned, that would be the direction towards the airport and Cap Cana. you can walk for hours that way, no developments, no hotels, just mom nature. keep in mind that on this side you are really on your own, no guards or anything within earshot. after a long while in that direction you would reach a beach stretch which offers no sand, its made of coral and volcano rocks, that's Cabo Engaño, the easternmost tip of the Island, where the old Lighthouse is. right after that point you are on the Airports beachfront, you will know right away when you reached that point, as the departing planes are leaving right over that beach on lowest level, it almost looks like the will hit the water before lifting up into the air. right there also the public walking journey comes to an end, as from the airport on(PC airport is privately owned by a company named Grupo Punta Cana) all the coming beachmiles are private beach and gurds would hinder trespassing. it is Punta Blanca Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches to be found in the caribbean. properties on that beach for the next miles are Los Corales, Arreciffe, Club Med Punta Cana, Tortuga Bay, Hilton Punta Cana, Punta Cana Resort&Club and Punta Cana Marina Condominiums. at the PC Marina the beach ends, as there is of course a Marina channel wheer boats enter and leave the Marina facilities. right aside that channel is the wider channel for the neighboured Cap Cana Marina, they are side by side. where the Grupo PC's property ends, the Cap Cana property starts.

so 1st due the Private Beachmiles of Grupo Punta Cana, and 2ndly due the Marina Channels it would not be possible to walk from the Catalonia to Cap Cana, and it anyways would be a very ver4y far Beach Stroll.

have fun

So true Mike, when turning to the right, the beach is natural and beautiful - we made about an hours walk before turning back - the bubba cups ran out of 'juice' and it was starting to rain LOL.

If you like to snorkel, take your mast - there are some small weed beds both to the right and to the left, an very little boat traffic. I followed a local fisherman just past the Blau two years ago and had a nice time underwater - until the sea snake surprised me - thank goodness it was shallow and I could stand up and run like mad, screaming like a girl. Good times.

hahaha, so you saw a Eel, lol.

yes, to the left little boat traffic bothering, to the right zero boat traffic, as the passage to there are very rocky and shallow and anyways no hotels/properties a boat would have to go to to bring guests etc.

There are no sea snakes in the Atlantic ocean. There are various types of eels which resemble snakes.

the spear fisherman I followed called it a sea snake, but you are correct, it did resemble an eel. Still ran screaming from the sea
