Royalton Punta Cana Soft Opening or Grand Opening on Dec 1st

Anyone knows if Dec 1st is the Soft or Grand opening. The reason I ask is because the Royalton White Sands where advertising opening Nov 16th. But it was a soft opening (as you can see from guests), yet they booked guests anyway. Very disappointing from Blue Diamond Hotels (owned by SunWing). I hope the same thing doesn't happen in PC...

I am at the Royalton now...have been here since Tuesday. I actually booked Memories Splash but was upgraded because Memories was not finished. So here is the skinny: Resort is beautiful but people are right, it is not done, but it is doable. I was one of the lucky ones because I only had to wait a half hour for my room....there were people who had to wait over 6 hours! The rooms are definitely beautiful. Spacious, very comfortable beds, housekeeping morning and night for some reason. My safe has no battery and I've called down probably 5 or 6 times, so tonite I plan to physically force someone to attend to fix it. They are soo busy there is no doubt, trying to complete things here, and there are literally more workers than guests. The restaurants that we have been to are good. Sports bar understaffed but good food. Pools are all in use and beautiful. There really is no nightly entertainment to speak of at this point, although they tried to get everyone up and dancing last nite which several people did. Stores aren't open yet except for two. Room service is quick and efficient. We took a trolley over to Memories to check out the water slides the other day, they are all up and running, but it was quite desolate over there because they had not welcomed any guests into that resort yet. Anything else I can help with let me know and I will try to answer for u. I am here til Tuesday.

Thanks TravellingMom65 for your honest review.

About the rooms, is there a Bluetooth audio station ?

Is the coffee/pastry/ice cream shop open?

Are all restaurants open ?

Cabanas/pool beds, are they for rent or included with Diamond club ?

Which building blocks seem to be fully open ?

Thanks

Change your holiday now if you can!! Thomson have just upgraded us to the riu palace bavaro (not riu palace punta cana thankfully). No extra cost. Thomson are recommending changing hotel after a further update from Royalton!! Don't be fooled by reviews of people there as things are not getting any better!! People travelling from uk, get yourself transferred ASAP!!

My family is booked at Memories Splash January 13th-20th. What are the chances of the resort being finished. Also, are there any height, weight, age restrictions for the water park

i would not expect any troubles for the end of march, by then the resort will be up and running as usual.

as for mid january, i would "expect"(that's just my own feeling, not based on anythiong provided by the resort or such) that they have their amenities open and running but with the usual kinks as normal on a new property, the usual minor stuff which goes smoother week by week when something starts newly.

if the price is right, no problem to book mid january and ahead.

have fun
