Looking for a family hotel with night life

Having just returned from Mexico for Xmas and the New Year, I am looking for a location for Xmas 2014.

Can anyone suggest a good family hotel with lots going on with perhaps some water sides, but has good night time entertainment for all of us. An outside area with music etc.

In Mexico where we stayed most finished around 9.30 and was inside in a close arena. With chairs in a row and no tables for your drinks. Didn't much like this .

Budget around 6-7K for 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 & 10.

Thanks for your help

Check out Melia, no waterslide but there is alot going on there at all times day/night. The nightlife at Melia has been hard for any other place I have stayed at seem like a downgrade. Just my opinion.

Melia nightlife was good live music by the theatre bar several nights, a dj near avenue bar another night. We usually called it a night around 12:30 ish - there is a disco we didn't go to , but we did go to casino w several people we met too.

I've been to Melia 4 times, and I've found the nightlife to be quite good, both in the evening, and after hours. My best friend refers to Melia as the Swiss army knife of resorts - something for everyone.

You will find what you are looking for at the Bahia resorts. Water slides, outdoor entertainment, casino, etc. Good luck with your choice.

Not sure of the prices but waterslides can be found at the Sivoy Supposed to be awesome water park there but it is a bit remote and the Uvero Alto beaches are known to have a bit of rough waters on the beach, making swimming not possible but body surfing AWESOME!

I'd keep an eye on the new Memories or Royalton and see if the reviews improve over time as THAT water park looks great! Perhaps by the time you are ready to book they will have worked out the usual "new resort" bugs.

The Bahia has a relatively new "Fun Center" but you have to pay for using it as it is not part of the resort but the fee is not much and it sounds good. I will be at the Ambar Feb 1-10 and if someone reminds me when I do my live post, I will toddle over there and see what pics I can take. They have a "Boyscout Water Park" at the Esmeralda but it may be too juvenile for your kids.

I'm sure those that know more will chime in but hope I've given you a bit of direction
