Melia caribe tropical questions

Hello:

I'll be at the Melia on February 19! I don't think we plan on upgrading to "the Level" .

Few questions:

- Canadian Olympic hockey should be on while we are there: is there somewhere that would play those games? On the resort ? Or close to it?

- I have been reading recent reviews and it seems people are saying you need a train to get to the beach??? How long is the walk????

-is there a club on the resort?

- how many ala carte restaurants are actually included in the all inclusive ?

Thanks everyone

See my replies to some of the questions. Hope you have fun!

I have been reading recent reviews and it seems people are saying you need a train to get to the beach??? How long is the walk????

It depends on where your room is located. If you're in buildings 17-23 on the Tropical side or 37-41 on the Caribe side, you might want to take the train. It could be about a 10 minute walk. If you're in the buildings closer to the beach, then you would probably want to take the train to the restaurants at night.

-is there a club on the resort?

I'm not sure as we don't stay up very late - most resorts do have disco's. There is a club close by called the Jewel.

- how many ala carte restaurants are actually included in the all inclusive ?

Unlimited a la cartes but you do have to make reservations.

Oh great! Thanks for all your help.

10 mins is not long!!! Love walking so I'll probably do that.

As for the ala cartes, a recent review said that the Japanese and steak resto were not included in the all inclusive price and that they had to pay 39 dollars per person? And that the only all inclusives were Mediterranean , Italian and Dominican

We stayed in buildings closer to the beach, which is what we wanted - we walked or took the train , but mostly just walked except late at night. There is live music near the theatre fun people dancing etc, but not a disco, 1 night they had a DJ near at the Avenue bar I believe by the mex restaurant. It was more of a club type of vibe/scene and we had fun people dancing all over - Never went to the disco as we were traveling with our daughter -- The casino I think had TVs on the bar side, honestly by that time we were just having fun and I wasn't paying attention - There was no limitation on the restaurants - just book what you can - the tepanki and the steak and lobster which is NOT owned by the resort cost 39 a person but was wonderful!

Oh that clarifies the restaurant thing then... Thank you for that!!

Sounds like it would be a fun place at night...

So you're thinking maybe the tvs by the casino would play the games???

No, there are many more restaurants - see following:

melia.com/en/…Restaurants-and-bars.html

We stayed for 10 nights last year and only ate once at the buffet and did not pay for either of the specialty restaurants.

Plenty of food options, and everything we had was good - some better then others but I think thats just personal preference - I just believe when u travel that you have to be opened minded about oher culture way of preparing food.

Of the restaurants listed in the link Mumlovstorun gave you, the Gabi, Hokkaido and Turrey Grill are not included in the basic package. There is a disco located behind the Tropical Lobby bar but it is usually dead until around 1am. Some nights are busier than others. The Caribe Lobby bar has more going on most nights and has the casino in behind it. Our trip to the Melia will overlap with yours we don't arrive till Feb 22
