What to do for hubby's 50th bday

Hi everyone. I'm taking my hubby to the Gran Bahia Esmerelda mar 26-April 2, his 50th is on march 27, anyone have any thoughts on what we can do? ie: concerts, events, something spectacular! I know about the Michael Bolton concert but not really his thing. Also when do I submit his bday info to the hotel so they could decorate and such. Not sure how that works. Thanks

Only you would know best what sort of things your husband would like, maybe a beach dinner, couples massage?

I hope resorts are charging for decoration packages. I know a lot of people bring decorations from home for special events.

If he's into fishing, you can book a fishing charter, or if he likes off roading you can book one of the dune buggy tours. There are many catamaran sailboat and diving excursions too. Casino trip to Hard Rock?

Email the resort 2 weeks in advance about the birthday, they may be able to work out someting special for you guys, like simple decorations, a small cake, or dinner reservations on the beach.

There may be an added cost for the beach dinner, I'm not familiar with the Esmerelda.

it all depends what kind of persons the two of you are.

some would have a fun day on a party catamaran cruise, others would spend a day fishing(you are visiting in the middle of white marlin season), you can arrange for a romantic dinner for two on the beach, or book as a birthday gift a full day tour on the Xtreme Buggies etc etc, many possibilities, depending if you want it quiet relaxed in the evening for a romantic time or a wild day having a blast.

have fun

My vote is for an excursion... Get him off premise for something different... Beautiful pics and memories. This year for hubby's Bday and anniversary I want to take him out deep sea fishing, just b/c he won't do something like that at home.

Remember some excursions have to be booked in advance, on their website to ensure availability.

With all due respect wud I've never figured out why someone would pay $90 per person for dinner on the beach when you can have a nice dinner free in your resort. For that price couldn't you go to a very nice restaurant somewhere nearby? I'm sure the setting is nice and they do a wonderful job when doing these beach dinners though.

hoffer-

I can certainly see your point but I believe being on vacation is about indulgence especially if the situation is special like a birthday. The romantic experience for me alone is priceless . Why do people pay $300 for a couples massage, or any of the excursions that have been mentioned-that aren't cheap either. It's all about the experience. I am very thrifty at home but when I'm on my trip to punta Cana in June I plan on "Going big or go home." Trust me I'm not going home :) !

Hoffer, I completely understand what you are saying. Just my 2 pesos, but I must say that our beach dinner was one of the best nights we had. Four great courses under the stars with the waves crashing in the background, perfect. Worth everybit of the $100 (+tip) price tag to us.

We're not at all thrifty on vacation either. Dinner on the beach like that sounds very nice but I'd rather spend my money on a tour. That's just one 50 year old guy's opinion.

Thanks for all the ideas! I'm thinking and exciting excursion like the ATVs, zipping, that boat thingy in the sky I saw last year or 4x4'ing more adventurous. He's not into fish or fishing or seafood for that matter lol. He's kinda like a a 10 year old lol. Loves to be wild and have fun. As for the romantic dinner in te beach it's not our thing either. He's 50 I'm 36 we've been together 21 yrs and have 2 grown kids so were past the whole romance thing lol
