I'm booking today!

I know I've asked like 5 times in last 7 months but still haven't found the answer I'm looking for. The Occidental or the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro or the Melia Caribe Tropical. 4 nights in July! 7 guys! Bachelor vacation! Please help! Lol thank you!

It depends what your looking for... Bachelor party I presume you want things to do at night... all 3 do offer this but there is some differences.

Occidental is right in the El cortecito area - which means very easy to walk off resort (or very short taxi / moto concho) up to the street to local bars, dance bars, plaza bavaro, around the corner to some beach bars.

At it's front gates Occidental also has the popular Mangu nightclub.. Guests of Occidental get free entry but you have to pay for your drinks. $6+ for beer, mixed drinks are more.

On the downside - All "all inclusive bars" close at 1am... This means you have no choice but to go to Mangu or somewhere else for later night activities and you will have to pay for your drinks.

--------

Melia has been mentioned to be somewhat lively and others have mentioned there is times it gets a bit quiet in the later evening..If it's quiet a walk out the main gate brings you to Jewel nightclub in Palma Real mall. As for all inclusive bars on resort you have the disco to 2am, then sports bar and casino bar to 3am.

----

Bahia is the biggest complex with 5 resorts in 1 and many people out and about. It is lively and their disco is one of the bigger "on" resort discos that don't allow the public in.. Open to 2am then there is a late night snack bar open to 6am where you can get beer. Here is a youtube of the disco (fast forward around a min as beginning is just talking)

Bahia is "NOT" located within walkin distance to other places like Occidental.... You would need to take a taxi... A few minute taxi to Oro nightclub at Hard Rock... and 10/12ish min to El Cortecito area (Mangu, local bars, etc)

===============

It really depends what your plans are.. 4 nights is not long to do much.. If your plans were to be bouncing around bars at night.. then it would probably be better to stay at Occidental just due to the location of the place..

If your plans were more sticking on the resort, meeting other guests, doing an excursion one day and still having the lively atmosphere day/night with an included disco to 2am then option for beer after that... then you be best to pick the Bahia.. as it's like a small city... but also not very far away to get off resort to other places.

well what resorts do you like and why?

to add to list above your new one you added is Palladium... Also in El Cortecito - Actually next to Occidental... so on the beach facing ocean walking to your right you have a few beach bars and shopping, out your main entrance to the right and another right Steve's bar, local places, plaza Bavaro, Mangu nightclub..short taxi (down the street) to Jewel.

These are just some there were recommended. Trying to narrow it down. I don't like grand Bahia principe bavaro for the fact of needing to take a tram car to beach or what ever being we'll be 7 people group. It's plus is that it's huge and plenty of places to go boozing and mingle. Occidental sounds good for the sense of moving around and going to local establishments. But don't want to get murdered. Lol

"But don't want to get murdered." are you saying you don't fell comfortable being off resort? If that is the case then you might not be fond of the Occidental as the Mangu nightclub is open to the public so you be mixing up with "chicas' and "sankies" in the crowd..

Take note - perfectly safe and fine to be off resort, everyone is friendly, just don't flash cash, flashy jewelry or get in any fights.

No - I am asking you how comfortable you feel about being "off" resort based on your comment "you don't want to get murdered" it sounds like you don't really feel like being off resort with the locals..... Just letting you know that at Occidental the Mangu nightclub is open to the public... so it will be a very diverse crowd including "chicas" (hookers) and "sankies" (male hookers)..... that you might be rubbing elbows with in the club.

So if you don't feel comfortable being in that type of environment then Occidental might not be the right choice as the bars at the resort close at 1am... so you will have no choice each night but to either go to Mangu or a local place, or somewhere else to have drinks...

Not against that at all. That's what we're looking for but you can't bring guests back with ya right so how's that work?

If there not guests of the resort then no.. you'd have to buy a room for them at the resort (if any are available which is unlikely at 3 or 4am).... i don't know about chicas but am sure they know other places to bring you if that is your thing...

Bahia might be of interest to you just to do the sheer size of the resort with around 2600 rooms.. There will be plenty of young people, many singles out and about out of the 4000 to 5000 guests that will be there...

Even if only 2% of the resort was younger people out at the disco at night thats around 100 people. You'd have good chances there and since there all guests you have no worries about going to whoevers room...

Tram sounds like a pain but actually pretty efficient and run from 6am to 3am down the 3 streets that lead to the beach... always one available or your only waiting a few minutes for the next one... jump off to your room, change/shower, jump back on to the lobby bar, pool bar, etc...

But if you wanted to walk it's still very doable... from the beach to the bavaro lobby bar is no more the a 10min walk..

And if one or 2 nights you want to go off resort you can get to the El Cortecito area rather quickly 10ish min taxi... so it''s not a big deal to leave the resort nor that expensive...
