Usually the cut off is age 12 but that can vary with some hotels. Check your preferred hotel website.

It's way too young IMO. A 12 year old won't eat as much as an adult, nor will they be drinking alcohol.

Many 12 year olds eat way more than me. The 12 year old is still consuming a lot of beverages. Many adults don't have booze in their drinks either.

dotndani,

Marg is absolutely correct - you will find that the majority of the resorts consider a person an adult if they are over the age of 12 for the purpose of room bookings.

Hard Rock was 17 yrs But they have changed it to 12yrs. Unfortunatly we are unable to pay for 4 Adults and flights from UK.

Do they actually check the ages or does it vary by hotel? My son JUST turned 13 and when I booked the reservation he was 12 so I put that in Now i'm worried they will charge me a fortune when I check in. Guess I'l just have to wait and see.

Yes they will see your son's age. You have to show passports when you check in.

We are having the same problem. We have actually found that the price of two rooms is about the same as the price of one room with 4 Adults in it (and yes almost every hotel we have looked at in Punta Cana charges anyone over 12 as an adult). Since most won't guarantee they are ajoining rooms you may want to look into Family suites.
