Live from Memories Splash / Royalton - Taking questions

We just arrived at Memories Splash in Punta Cana on Friday, July 4th, and are here until next week Friday, July 11th. If anyone has any questions about the resort (or the sister Royalton resort), please feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to answer them each day. I know someone else did this for this resort a few months back on the forums here and it was a big help in us planning for our trip, so I figured I would pay the service forward and try to help anyone else out that may be coming soon.

Do Memories guests have full access to Royalton pools and bars?

Staci, I can answer that one as I have so many times. There are common areas that both resorts share, such as the casino, the sportsbar, and the beachbar (for lunch and drinks). And Memories guests can either upgrade for access to the a la carte restaurants, or pay a $15pp charge. But no, Memories guests do not have use of Royaltons pools and other bars or facilities.

I am only answering as this has been addressed a million times and confirmed with the hotel manager. That and the fact that I had a few friends out there recently and they also did some inquiring. On the bright side, Royalton guests do have full use of the Memories facilities, as thats included in the higher price paid. Not a new concept.

Lor Jay,

I'm sorry. My package for memories through Livingsocial already included diamond club, plus we are at memories, so not sure what Royalton prices would be for upgrade. I suggest calling them directly, unless you want to just try upgrading when you are here.

kmichalec do either of the resorts look "sold out"? Our tour op is not only sold out for this hotel for the remainder of the season, they are sold out on flights for some time as well... just curious about occupancy.

Staci / taprice,

I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate. I was told with my diamon club upgrade, we are able to use all the facilities/pools/ bars at the Royalton, except the adults only pool, as that's exclusive to the Royalton. We had the "silver" Diamond club, and we upgraded to the "gold" diamond club, which means we dont have to pay the extra $15 pp for the ala carte restaraunts (we tested it last night). We were offered this upon checkin at memories on Friday. Supposedly, it's normally $300, but they offered it to us for $180, then $140. I then talked them down to $110 ( cause it was all the American cash I had on me at the time). For a family of 4, two visits to the Royalton ala cartes and it paid for itself. So,it helps to barter a bit. We'll be testing out whether we have any issues at the pools when we go there tomorrow. But, from what I've been told, the pools are always packed, and a lot of people from the Royalton come over to memories pools, since they are less crowded, easier to swim up to the bar, and the water is cooler. A guy I ran into from the Royalton who was at the memories pool said its much nicer to hang out at the memories social pool since the water is about 10 degrees cooler.

Will report back more tomorrow as to how we got on.

Kevin

That is correct, WITH the upgrade. Not with a regualr booking, in that case it would be as stated previously.

Taprice,

I'm not sure about sold out, but I do believe they are near capacity. They had us booked into a Deluxe room, but our package was supposed to include a Premium room, and it took them a bit to find a room for us. But even near capacity, it's not overly crowded at memories. The Waterpark does get busy during the days from about 10-2pm, but the pools always seems to have seats. Haven't been over to the Royalton yet during the day (will be tomorrow), but just word of mouth has been its a bit crowded over there.

Hope this helps.

kmichalec thanks again! Good to hear that even while busy, it doesn't feel that way. I have also been told that they are vigilant about the towel game, removing unattended towels left first thing in the morning... have you seen any problems? I'd love to know when you get a chance to peek tomorrow, if there seems to be more seating in the shade....

Have a great time, don't work too hard! LOL
