? about Grand Bahia Principe food and amenities

I'm looking at a booking site for room choices. Their Junior Suite Superior - All-Inclusive offers garden view or pool view with king size bed or two double size beds. Amenities are Patio or balcony, full bathroom with jacuzzi bath, hair dryer, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, telephone, safety deposit box (additional fees), mini bar, coffee maker.

For $8/day more we can get the Deluxe Junior Suite - All-Inclusive. That room's amenities include:

Private reception check in and check out

Welcome cocktail

4 dinners in specialty restaurants per week (reservations required)

FREE use of the Internet at the Clubhouse, 15 minutes a day per room

Press in the Clubhouse (free)

Different color All-inclusive bracelet

Guests staying in the Deluxe Room are entitled to use the Clubs facilities and services

Facilities and services offered in the rest of the hotel, Except for those of other existing Clubs.

So what do the people who book the Junior Suite Superior get besides the room? Are they not allowed to eat at the restaurants? No club services? Puddle bathing in the parking lot? All in all it sounds like a pretty shabby way to get an extra $16/day out of you. I'd like to hear from some folks who have stayed with the different rates to get your opinion. TIA.

As a followup I looked at the rates and decided that luxury Bahia Principe Ambar was a no-brainer. For an extra $31/day we get unlimited restaurants at any part of the total resort, top shelf liquors, 24 hour room service and the best beach. We're going in November so plenty of time to plan.

You will like the Ambar. Was there in Feb and had a great time. Good food, service, nice grounds, good rooms, fun shows, great pool scene. The beach has small to moderate waves, nice soft off-white sand. It is not the largest of beaches and it can get pretty crowded but the people watching is lots of fun!

Kei, Good move to stay at the Ambar, we stayed there seven weeks ago, it is a very short walk to the pool (1 min walk), and (2 min walk) to one very meticulously clean beach, plenty of palapas to get under for shade, the earlier you get to the beach, you can have your pick of the three front three row, I was on the beach every morning by 6:30am, and always got the same spot, 2nd row of palapas. The food is good to very good at both of the buffets, main buffet at the Lobby, and also has a beach buffet for lunch, lots to choose from, and the food is also good to very good at the ala cartes, and you can always order an extra dinner if you find the portions to be on the smaller side. The drinks are also very good, with some top shelf liquors, especially at the main Lobby bar, and you can always ask them for "mucho" alcohol, if your find the drinks a little of the weak side. The big advantage of staying at the Ambar, guests from it's sister resorts, the Bahia Bavaro, and the Bahia Punta Cana, cannot enter into any of the facilities of the Ambar, guests staying at the Bahia Esmeralda are allowed into the Ambar, but not with children that are under 18. The only drawback about staying at the Ambar, is that most of the Nightly entertainment is held at the Bahia Punta Cana, and really have to take the tram from and to the Ambar, it runs about every 10 - 15 mins, and will drop You off wherever you like, the Nightly shows, the Sports bar/Karoake, the small Casino, and the late night disco are all at the Punta Cana, but it's only a two minute tram ride to and from the Ambar, the trams run until about 3am. One thing not to miss, is the Saturday night Beach Party, lots of fun, with tables, chairs, lights, DJ playing today's music, bar, and wait staff, and dancing in the sand. The Lobby does have nightly entertainment, a singer and keyboard, or a DJ playing mixed types of music, it shuts down at 11pm, and the main Lobby bar shuts down at 11:30pm. We brought our two "Bubbas" which kept drinks cold for hours, and the bartenders, and wait staff will always fill them up with your fav drinks, we have the 34oz Bubbas, bought them at Wal-Mart for about $10.00 each,, we always take them on every trip, they're Great ! You will Luv the Bahia Ambar. Hope this helps You some, always glad to answer any questions you might have, Best Wishes, Leo & Sue

Kei, what's better than a Beach Party, lights, music, drinking and dancing in the sand, was one of the highlights of the Ambar, as far as entertainment, and fun goes.

There is absolutely nothing better LeoSue! We love the Ambar as well and will be headed back for our 6th time next April. It is our home away from home.

Kei,

In the event others are also reading your post, I thought I would you the details of the Saturday night Beach Party - hope this helps.

They do advise Ambar guests only by invitation, one or two days prior to the event - weather permitting. Guests of the Esmeralda are not advised however, they may also join in on the fun provided they do not have children under 18 years of age attending with them.

1. Celebrated by the beach bar area on the beach.

2. Big screen with a projector to show videos.

3. Live DJ with a large variety of music for all to enjoy.

4. Open Bar for the entire event. (9:00 PM until everyone leaves).

5. Lots of special effects lighting to create ambiance. (DISCO LIGHTS).

6. They also place four sets of tables and chairs that have special lighting to create a nice look.

7. Welcome drinks in a Coconut with or without alcohol.

8. Waiters taking drink orders for the guest sitting around the event in chairs and tables.

9. Tiki torches are lit to light up a path to the event.

Have fun !!
