Heading to Hard rock in 2 days...a few questions

Should we bring cash for the casino or use the Atm? We will prob end up gambling a good amount so it wouldn't just be a few hundred. We booked the Caribbean sand suite, any building recommendations? Any other tips? (good drinks or food to order) Thanks so much!

thanks for the info.

and 43.70 to purchase US Dollars with dominican pesos is not a ripp off rate, it is a reasonable exchange that way.

actually the exchange rate reverse, selling dollars and exchanging them into DR Pesos is 43.55.- pesos per dollar, so 43.70.- pesos to purtchase a dollar back is more than erasonable, i nwould not have awaited such good rate at a resort/in this case at a csino attached but not run by a resort of course.

yes, the Casino is not owned nor run/administered by Hard Rock, it is run by one of the few DR companies with the rare and valuable Casino/gambling license, as usual at all hotels on the Island/in the Dominican Republic, hence same practices and handlings of things at all hotels. some casinos are bigger and other are very small, but all run on the same ride.

thanks for confirming the info tho

Quick question ,going to Hard Rock Punta Cana when paying for the room at check in is your credit card charged a foreign transaction fee? Have read some conflicting info on this. Appreciate any first hand experience.

Hi Andrea H, yes there will be a transaction fee that will be charged to your credit card but this charge is really small. For more information, try to get in contact with your bank representative for more information. :o)

So we will bring a credit card that does not charge foreign fees. This was never disclosed on the reservation and not sure what really small is since our balance due is well over $3000.00

what is such Foreign Fee for anyways??

is it something the resort takes as a lil extra, or is it fees of the credit card provider and/or home bank for using the particular credit card in a foreign country?

The fee is charged by the financial institution so at this time this is the reason as to why this was probably not informed at the moment of making a reservation because we're not the ones charging the fee the bank is. Basically, the financial institution you have the credit card with has to inform you that in case you do an international transaction you'll be charged a fee at the moment you go and get a credit card in the bank. The foreign fee is charged by your bank for using the Credit Card in another country. Be sure to let them know beforehand that you'll be travelling overseas so they know it's you making those charges. :o)

good info, Karl.

it is up to the customer/Credit Card User to know about that fee. i have the same on my GermanCredit Card, when i use it outside of the European Union i pay a small extra fee for the use in a foreign country, the same (even with a 2nd addy on top) when i take cash out of a ATM in a country outside of the EU.

a cardholder knows about such fees as they are shown in the contracts with the credit card providers.

there are also cards/contracts which do not charge such foreign use fees, it all depends what kinda deal each traveler has with his/her bank/CC Provider.

That is exactly right Mike, the fee/no fee will vary from bank to bank so you're better off asking the bank directly about it Andrea H :o)
