Excellent Punta Cana - Countdown Time!

We are going with a few couples to EPC in three weeks and are beyond excited, we've all got our lists going and started packing. I was hoping to get some tips. Can you think of anything that you wish you would have had while you were there? General tips that would help us out?

I check this forum often and have been able to get a little list going from it, but seeing different peoples opinions is always helpful to me.

Thanks in advance!

There's not much that isn't provided, Amanda. Rooms have all the necessary toiletries / bath products, tooth paste, robes, slippers, etc. I bring emergency stuff like Advil (or similar), Benadryl, Immodium, Zantac, etc. and of course sunscreen. I bring Off each time, but I've never used it. Even that, they've been known to provide. You don't want to have to buy things at the shops, because it's expensive.

Get to The Grill early, at lunch, and dinner, if you want a table along the raised rail, overlooking the pool and beach. Nice spot, but there are only 4 or 5 of these tables. Check the daily lunch specials at Las Olas on the beach (ribs, paella, tacos, etc.) Be sure to take in the sax playing of Domingo, at the Martini Bar, in the early evening. Check out the sports bar, and take a stroll through the nature trail and meet the parrots (don't wear anything shiny). Take it easy on the coco locos, and other coconut drinks (natural laxative), and most of all - get to know and use the fabulous customer relations and concierge staff.

I'll add to that the chocolate fondue and the crème brulee at Chez Isabelle, and the fried ice cream at Spice. Also, they have 8 or 9 flavors of ice cream at the sports bar. And get your margaritas fresh squeezed.

Mark,

Do we have to ask specifically for a fresh squeezed margarita or are they always fresh?

I always ask for it specifically a certain way: margarita up (shaken, no ice, salt around the rim, and fresh squeezed). Otherwise you might get ice, or frozen, maybe pre-mixed, etc. I don't know, they made it for me this way at Excellence in Mexico, and I've been asking for it that way ever since.

I just ask for their best tequila. I don't know what brand. Actually, once you get to know them, they just make it the way you like it, without asking.

Pack DEET and spray it on open skin before you go out for the night. Find what you like by exploring then stick with it. We enjoyed seeing Domingo and relaxing. The cappuccinos at the bars are EXCELLENT and a great after dinner drink to keep you going through the night. We enjoyed playing blackjack at the casino late at night. We also enjoyed the sports bar and drinking/playing foosball, ping pong and pool. Kinda sucked the sports bar closed at 10. But from there we would go to the club. Or the casino. Or a late night yummy pizza at the Italian restaurant right next to the casino.

We also enjoyed the shows and the after show dancing behind the theater/near the beach.

We had fav restaurants and those not our fav. We stayed long enough to skip a second time the ones we didn't like and go to the ones we loved again. Explore them all and figure out your favs. Our last night we literally went to all the restaurants and had 1 or 2 of our favs at each one. That was awesome.

Any other questions, just ask.

I agree. I think the sports bars should be open until midnight. I'd probably spend less time in the casino that way.

We get late night take-out pizza from Oregano, and eat it in the Martini Bar. Nice, thin crust pizza.
