Punta Cana Excursions

I will be staying at the Occidental Grand Hotel through Xmas. Can anyone recommend any of the off resort excursions? Can you rent ATVs locally?

we just got back yesterday from bahia principe punta cana. We did two excursions "saona island" (wed. and friday only) for 88 bucks/person. It was worth of going. The other one is called "outback safari" 80 bucks/person, the excursion suppose to bring u to schools and houses that the local ppl lives. But we didn't really go there. we just passing by. It is like a shopping tour. not recomment it. But u get some good deals on shopping though. We didn't try to ATV.

We stayed at the Bavaro Princess last month and also did the Outback Safari. We went up into the mountains and stopped at a local school. We were able to give the children school supplies that we took with us. We went into the one room school and the children sang a song for us. Also stopped along the way at a local home, walked right through it and met the family who lived there. Stopped along the way at a cocoa plant, ate lunch at a ranch and then went to a beautiful secluded beach to go boogie boarding. I loved the trip, definitely worth it. Great opportunity to get out of the resort and see the Dominican countryside.

A great tour is swimming with sharks and rays. We are in our fifties and loved it, well at least I did.
