Rex - internet access

Hi all,

A question for those familiar with the Rex: is it possible to connect to the internet? is it free? is there a wireless network available?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, not a problem. There are various areas in the Tamarind Lounge area where wireless network is available. No charges are made. Occasionally you may have trouble connecting, but keep trying! If you are not taking your own laptop you can use the hotel computer in the reception area, but they charge you by the minute, so very expensive.

I am able to get wireless internet from my hillside suite at the Rex, and I hear its also available in the main building. Sometimes connection is slow, but its very helpful to have internet here to look up things to do :)

Hi

If you don't have your own laptop, how much does it cost to use the one in the reception area? Are is there often a long queue to use it?

Yes, there are safes in the room (no charges) where you can set your own codes. They are quite small and depending on how big your laptop is, it may not fit.

There are larger safes available in the hotel reception (accessed through private doors) but I am not sure if there is a charge for them. Again, I believe that they are only accessible certain hours of the day.

To use the hotel computer which is situated in a private office in the lobby, it has always been empty over the past few years we have stayed there, but there is a hefty charge to use it which is why I think so many take their own laptop.

Just quick note to say yes there is good connections depending on where you sit in the lobby or lounge area

The safe is fairly deep

I have a small ASUS computer so it fits with room to spare. i think my toshiba would have fit

Rain today all day but a nice break from the heat

I have a very large laptop but it fitted in the safe, but you have to angle it around to get it in and out.

Connections via wifi is hit or miss I found, even if sitting in the lobby, some days it would connect instantly, other's took several attempts, some days it wasn't possible at all.
