Is it better to use US or CDN while it Grenada, can you get phone cards at the hotel reception? Do cellular phones work well or is the reception not very good. Our friends need to keep in touch with Canada.

If you do the tours through Air Canada Vacations you can pay in CDN otherwise USD or EC work fine

Local calls from the hotel are $2.EC there is no mention of this in the room or on the phone so be warned

If they have a laptop it may be better to use that to keep intouch .

We saw people using the computer to talk to people in U.K.

I would recommend that upon arrival you buy a SIM card from LIME (formerly BMobile which was formerly

Cable & Wireless). The card costs $25 EC and comes with $25 in credit so it's actually free.

Calls to the US are 90 cents EC a minute so Canada should probably be the same. Also LIME and Digicel are very competitive and sometimes one or the other will offer 20 cents per minute calls to the US and Canada during the evening. The promotions change every month.

Here's LIME's website:

think the Canadians have arrived on this forum!!!!!No disrepect as i love canadians after our visit to Cuba.

But as you are in Grenada it seems best to use EC which is the island currency and you will get change in it.

Cannot comment on mobile phones but my contract (UK)Vodafone worked well in Grenada.

This is a lovely island with lovely people so enjoy

Make sure you visit the fort in ST george.

We booked the cataram tour and the full day tour around the north part of the island. We had a choice of paying for the trip with US or Canadian dollars. Obviously paid with Canadian dollars.

The cataraman tour was with Caribe Cats it was OK. You may want to look at ShadowFax? if you are going on a cataraman cruises.
