Is the tornado season expected to be worse this year?

Looks like it could be a pretty active season.

Yes, the storm season is predicted to be an active one. Although, the Caribbean gets hurricanes, not tornadoes.

No tornadoes in the Caribbean, hurricanes only. Forecast calls for less storms than last year. Jamaica has had many close brushes ,but the last direct hit from a hurricane was Gilbert 1988. Ivan in 2005 went close (50miles at closest approach) to bring hurricane force winds. So hurricanes affecting Jamaica are not as common as one would think.

Jamaica is only 50 miles in width, like a needle in the Caribbean sea.

Hurricanes can do significant damage even if they do not make a direct hit... Heck tropical storms can be deadly as well... Jamaica has been lucky to not have seen the catastrophic damage of like Gilbert in recent years, but IMO has been rather unlucky at overall storm damage with each season in the past 5-6 years seeing major damage in some areas... Some even smaller islands see much less activity...

Hopefully this year will be an uneventful one, however early indications are not the greatest :(
