Immigration for tourists in Jamaica

Did they ever eliminate that Immigration inspection in the departure area? There was a reference some time back in The Gleaner those officers would be transferred to the arrival area to speed-up inspection there.

Which of the two departure area inspections is this referring to, the one with several rows of tables and inspectors as you enter the departure lounge, or the spot check just before you board the plane?

I posted an article that announced the removal of the the folks who collect your little white card before departure that you keep with you in Jamaica.

Bl;ues_Pirate: Only one I'm aware of is where you turn-in the Immigration slip that is stamped on arrival. You normally keep in in your passport and Immigration takes it back either before or after the Security check.

Now if we could just convince US Customs/Immigration to put a station at MBJ like they have in Aruba, that would be a major improvement for the Atlanta based tourists !!!. No more landing at "E" and then walking tp "F".

Considering that Canadians have to travel 2x as far as folks from Atlanta I think that we should have the shortest distance to walk - not the longest. What's up with that?

LOL

I went though the departure process yesterday at MBJ and yes, you still have to queue up to turn in the departure record part of the immigration form. The queues weren't too bad at all around 11AM
