Riu Palace Jamaica - beach and 'dropoff'

I see some reviews mentioning that there is a serious drop off in the water after a few feet in (one says 10 feet; another 2?). Anyone can give me more specific information on this? How many feet in and how deep of a drop off are we talking about? Can one see the bottom?

Thanks!

I would say the drop off is about 10 feet in you cannot see the bottom you start to sink into the sand and then you need to swim they do have some floats at towel hut and most people use them

The beach next door is not the same I have Seen people 20 to 30 feet out still standing.
