Going to SMB August 16-21... can't wait. It's my first time flying and seeing anything tropical. I've been obsessed looking at reviews and forums everyday, hope it's an amazing vacation!!!

You're going to have a BLAST!! The resort and island is very lush and tropical. The waters are crystal clear and the locals are so much fun! We first went to jamacia on our honeymoon ten years ago and just keep coming back for the above reasons. My advice, take the jamacian attitude of "no worries" and "irie" and you'll have an awesome trip to remember.

Here are some tips for you guys.

DO request a copy of the weeks schedule of activities for both SMB and SRC (and SCI if you like) so you can see whats all going on where. That way you won't miss out on anything.

DO make reservations right away after check in. You may even want to use those weekly entertainment schedules to help you with reservations. For instance if the beach party is monday night and you want to eat there and not miss it, make sure not to make reservations for that night ect.

SMB only has an allotted # of reservation spots for the other resorts restaurants. So if you happen to not be able to get a reservation for a restaurant at SRC or SCI, try going to those resorts directly and asking. We did this when we could not get a reservation and they gladly penciled us in.

DO NOT hesitate to ask when you are not satisfied with something. If you don't like your meal, ask for something different or send it back. Its kinda weird the amount of reviews I have seen where people complained about their meal and yet no mention of asking the waitress to have it re-done or select something different. very odd. But this rule applies to everything. If you are unhappy with your room or something is not working, just ask. If you feel the drinks are to strong or too weak just ask then to change it for you. Sandals staff try to make sure you leave satisfied with your vacation and your expectations exceeded. But from time to time, things do happen or the ball can get dropped. But if you don't alert them of the problem while on sight, they don't have the opportunity to fix it.

DO take advantage of the stay at 1 play at 3. Explore the other resorts and don't be shy about participating in their activities and indulging in their amenities. It truly is unlimited. There are no wrist bands or passes.

DO bring insect repellent with deet and also anti itch cream or treatment cream for any bites you may get.

Consider bringing earplugs for the morning you may want to sleep in, if you think the airplane noise will be a bother. it really cuts down on the sound.

Have fun!

My wife an I are going to SMB Aug 2 - 10, for our 5 year aniversary and are very exicted.

Rachael, you mentioned requesting the schedule for the weeks activities. Is this something that can only be done once I arrive or can I do it in advance.

Mike28, you will also receive a daily newsletter during your stay that outlines the activities and entertainment for the day. You get these in your room the night before.

Daryl, we have been to SMB twice before and enjoyed it, good luck.

I don't think you can request in advance. You can get a list of the theme nights (beach party, casino night) ect but this only highlights a fraction of the activities that take place because during the day there are lots of little things to do. Its just a paper pamphlet and you can ask for it once you arrive.

Your right Rachael. Anyway, you don't want to plan to much ahead! The Daily Breeze is all we need and it is very detailed each day. SMB will be lots of fun Mike, enjoy!

I just like to look ahead because lets say one evening they are doing a casino night at SMB from this time to this time and sadly we made reservations for that block of time at SRC because we did not know. We could have made earlier or later reservations so we could enjoy both. I really don't like missing out on things if I could help it to begin with. The daily breeze is great but its still just daily. I prefer the little pamphlets that actually tell you the schedule for the entire week. Its a useful took when planning excursions and dinner reservations so you don't miss out on anything at the resort.

Rachael: Things might have changed since 2011. What 'little pamphlet' are you referring to? When we stayed at St. Lucia in 2012 (stay at one-play at three) the Daily Breeze had all the activities listed for all three resorts so you would know day to day. I have never seen any pamphlet that lists the weeks activities. I agree with Rand...we never plan very far ahead either. You never know when 'sand gravity' might hit! It is vacation afterall!!
