Club Mobay

Leaving Thursday Sept 11, 2014 and flying into Montego Bay. Flight arrives 1:29 PM and leaving Wed Sept 17 at 2:30 pm. Is Club Mobay needed at theses times for a Thursday and Wed?

Thanks in advance!

Its probably not as helpful as a weekend flight but there is no way to really predict rather it will be worth it without looking at how many flights are arriving at the same time as yours. We booked it for our trip and we arrive on a Tuesday. We know its kinda a roll of the dice but we like that it basically guarantees a fast track. Every drop of vacation is important to us.

Drew: we have actually used Club MoBay twice now (two departure, one arrival) I can tell you this... hubs and I also went during 'off-season'... end of April/beginning of May. Our plane landed at 1:00pm on a Thursday. Immigration was a zoo...1 1/2 hr line up in a non-air conditioned immigration hall. Because of CMB, we were thru immigration, luggage pick-up, customs and were checking in with our resort lounge in 15 minutes. Needless to say, we are getting it again for next April. We flew out on a Thursday at 2:00pm. Departure security was totally disorganized and there were major lineups. With Club MoBay, we were in and out of security within 5 minutes and made our way to the CMB departure lounge. We had a 2hr wait for our plane and would rather sit in comfy chairs/sofas than sit on the hard gate seats. Plus, if you want to roam the airport, you can check in your luggage with CMB reception. It is a great service!!! But it is a crap shoot....if you can afford it without getting upset if there aren't horrible lines, then it is worth it! Definately think about getting arrival service.

Go to flightstats.com to see how many flights are arriving and departing during your times. Select MBJ, and then either the arrival or departure button. You can only see a few days at a time so, for instance, you could look today or tomorrow and see the flights coming in this Wednesday to get an idea, and tomorrow or Wednesday you could check the Thursday departures for this week. This will give you a fairly accurate idea of what is scheduled to arrive at that time.

There is obviously no guarantee that any/all of the flights will arrive/depart as scheduled but it gives you a good idea of the schedule. We did the arrival once for a Saturday arrival. Turns out we didn't really need it. We generally fly in and out on Tuesdays now and don't bother with the arrival part. We do however always book the departure side. Much nicer sitting in the CMB lounge, eating the food and drinking the drinks provided and included in your purchase price (including alcohol), as well as free use of computers and nice clean bathrooms.

Here is the link to the website:

There is a heading that says Booking. I believe you submit your info, and they will either email you or call you for payment info, etc.

Winnekini,

You were so helpful on the other SWH post about Club Mobay. Sorry I did not mention you first in my thanks to all. Everything went smooth and we are all set to go. Once again, thanks for the help and info.

Drew,

We agree about enjoying as much of it as possible, We will be using Club Mobay both ways as it will allow us extra time. We land on a Monday and 80% of the flights that day land between 12:45-2 So we did not want to have to wait the extra time. I forget the site that you can look at to see how many flights are landing or taking off from a location but if you find it look there to see how many are landing. If it is more than 3 I would recommend it. We are actually arriving the 15th!

Just back from Jamaica. Didn't use MoBay Landed at 1:20 on Thursday and breezed through airport. Met another guest at the resort that landed at 1:40 and stated they were in a 2 hr long line worsen by the fact that passengers were told only one immigration form per family was needed when each individual must have one.

Spouse was persuaded to purchase tickets for MoBay on departure. Again we breezed through security but he wanted to use the lounge to watch US Open. Upon arrival we did see the MoBay Club hosts that escorted guest through immigration and customs. Doing departure...we were on our own, no escorting. The club itself is a nice airport lounge.

Arrival halls are not air conditioned but departures gates are ac.

Drew,

We have used Club MoBay departure our last two trips. For one, our flight was delayed 2 hours and we were in comfortable seats, open bar, free food. A no brainer IMO. Last year there was no delay but with the resort getting us to MBJ so early I felt the extra time at CMB was worth it.

We have used the same arrival flight and time the last couple of years. Two years ago we were about the fifth in line at Immigration. The hall was virtually deserted. Last year, same flight, almost two hours to clear Immigration. I saw more than one group with MoBay escorts clear Immigration in minutes.

I may "waste" my money if there is no line when we get down the ramp but will use the arrival as well as departure in April when we return.
