CTI is in Ocho Rios right?

The Blues are a doable day trip, usually done via Kingston but it depends what you want. Coffee plantations, waterfalls, hiking, a meal/drink at Strawberry Hill - all that is possible and more. The one thing that isn't a day trip is the hike to the peak. You'd need an overnight at least for that.

Yes, the best way would be to go to Strawberry Hill. Check with your hotel if they can arrange a tour of one of the coffee plantations there. Apparently the Blue Mountain in is nice - close to the old army base?

The British army used to have a barracks there (Newcastle) because their soldiers were dying from tropical diseases in the early 19th Century. It is now owned by the JDF but you can visit I think - it is supposed ot have fantastic views.

Blue Mountains is usually done in conjunction with the Tour of Kingston..........that would make for a full days experience. Check out www.jamaicaxplored.com see if that helps.
