San Souci Questions

I am seeing some conflicting comments on dress code for men in Casonova. Are nice, dress shorts for men acceptable or is it strictly pants?

What is the snorkeling like off the beaches there? Is it worthwhile to pack your snorkel equipment or is the resort snorkel trip necessary to gain access to snorkeling sites?

How bad are the bugs/mosquitos? is bug spray a daily must?

Thank you!!

We did CSS in 2011 & only saw men in pants at Cass. & close toed shoes. Piano music was great there during dinner. They will have stuff to use for watersports, but if you are picky you might want to pack your own, we didn't have any problems. The snorkel trip will take you out to better locations, so it is worth the trip or so I have been told. Bring bug spray & use daily especially at night but we didn't have any real major problems & were there in Oct. Lol our sunburn was worse than our bug bites. We LOVED CSS, you can check out my review if ya like for further tips & clips:)

Snorkeling off the beach is not bad, but they do provide a free snorkeling trip via boat every day free of charge.

On 4 trips there, bugs have never been an issue anywhere except on the beach in the evening. Sand fleas tend to come out at that time, so either stay off the beach or something with Deet in it usually works. Bring your own, as what they have available at the gift shop is very expensive.

For dining at Casanova, reservations are required, which you should do upon arrival, and the restaurant info is as follows:

Dinner: 6:30pm to 9:30pm, closed Tuesday and Friday

Reservations: Required

Dress: Resort Chic (no jeans, shorts or flip flops)

Also a collared shirt is required, such as a polo or golf shirt, or dress shirt.

You are welcome to come join our Facebook group as well, which is specific to Sans Souci and ask away. Lots of great info there as well...

We were just at CSS a few weeks ago. For the Cassanova Restaurant men must wear long pants-no shorts. We specifically saw several guests turned away for shorts. Pallazina does allow nice shorts. You no longer need to wear closed toe shoes at Cassanova, however, most do. The snorkeling in this part of Jamaica isn't the best but would suggest you take the trip. They take you to different places and it's a lot of fund. We actually didn't really get bit at all this time, but it might have been an anomoly. We had bug spray and would suggest you take it with you. Also, watch out for sea urchins in the ocean on the main beach side. They were picking them out every morning and we used water shoes when we went in. Enjoy!
