hi please can someone advise how long are the excursions..

hi

we are thinking of staying at beaches negril in november 09 to get married.. we are travelling with our 15 month old baby..can someone advise how long are the excursions such as the dunes water fals or zip wire trip are from this area? ive been told you have to travel 1.5 hours to get to ochos rios so its not really the area for excursions is this right? we are thinking of putting our baby in the day care but dont want to leave her for more than a few hours...

are most of the trip at least 5-7 hours from here?

thanks

Dunns is a 3 hr. drive each way. You are looking at an 8-9 hr. day for this excursion alone and hardly worth the effort since there are other areas within 1 1/2 hrs. from Negril (YS Falls & Mayfield Falls) There is a zip line at YS. Save Dunns for another trip if you are staying much closer. Typically excursions in the Negril area similar to what you have described are 5 hrs. on average if one thing only and up to 7 if you are combining two things.

I wanted to plan a day trip to Ocho Rios but don't want to waste a entire day doing so. Good to know there are other zip lines that are closer. How about Kool Running Water Park (I don't know the exact spelling)? How far is that from Negril?

It's right across the road from several of the large resorts in Negril.

a day trip to ocho rios from negri would be a complete waste of money and time IMHO. unless you are super into cruise ship disembarkments and even more touristy feel than what negril has to offer.

there is nothing that ochi may have to offer that is not available closer to negril and in most cases, more enjoyable. ;)

there's zip cording in Lethe which is a little over an hour from Negril heading back towards the airport... google lethe adventure tours and you should get the info you need for that...

another option might be to see if you can bring the nanny with you on the excursions if you don't want to be away for too long

I personally enjoy Ochi and prefer it much more than Negril, so if Dunns River is something you have your heart set on there is a way to make it happen, but yes, very long day, even with a nanny, for a toddler...

If you only want to leave your baby for a few hours zip line and dunns are probably out of the question. you could go to Mayfield Falls, much closer. If you really rushed it you could probably leave at 9 and be back by 2.

you could leave for lethe at 9, spend about an hour zip cording, and still be back before noon... if you want to zip cord in ocho rios then it's going to be longer... the lethe adventure tours are one of the closer attractions to Negril...
