Should there be worry about traveling into MB? Leaving soon.

There have been concerns about what's happening in Jamaica lately rightfuly so. Family members of mine are concerned that we are headed that way. Should we be worried? We are flying into MB and going on to Negril. I need input from you all. I respect this forum. Unless we are forbidden to travel by higher powers... no plans, hopes or dreams of ours can be stopped!

I also am traveling to Negril via Montego Bay in the next 2 weeks. The Drug War going on in Kingston has alarmed me a little bit. For those of you who have been to Jamaica and still believe that is safe to travel even with this going on...could you elaborate a little bit? What have you seen on your trips to Jamaica that make you feel safe?

I really just worried about traveling from the airport to the resort (and back). Once I get there I probably won't leave the resort.

thanks,

What exactly is the worry?

You'll be 4-5 hours from Tivoli Gardens.

Would you warn me against vacationing in Hilton Head because of gang violence in one neighborhood of Winston-Salem?

At CSA you will be well taken care of. You can also enjoy long walks "at night" along CSA's & Beaches Negril's beach without any need to feel creeped out & without anyone but resort guest & resort security. From dawn to dusk the water line is open to the public & a few vendors will walk along as well as some local musicians. Many have been there for years & they are very friendly. So no problem there either. I actually enjoy the local musicians & think they are an asset ...Enjoy...

oh please go off your resort. You are MILES away from anything to do with the Kingston mess.

I'm going June 16. I cannot WAIT. I'm using the same precautions I always do.

I'm no expert on Jamaica but just look at a map. Montego Bay to Negril is *nowhere* near Kingston where the trouble was (if that is even still going on). I'm heading to Negril in July. This didn't even make a blip on my radar.
