please help, need advice

First time to Jamaica for a 2 week vacation and we are not staying in an AL. What is a must see, must do, must drink and experience in Negril? I love to snorkel...can anyone reccomend a place or tour company to book excursions through or any other excursion that you enjoyed?

This seems to be a very touchy subject ( have read a recent post on this) but I've got to ask.... going out at night and the safety issues around it. I know you must be careful no matter where you're traveling and not to be stupid ( flash money around, wear big fancy watches, etc) However what would be the safest way to go out at night... take cabs everywhere? Any night clubs around Coco La Palma?

Any feedback would be grealty appreciated, I love these forums and always use them for questions, not looking for a debate simply want advice and recommendations :)

Thank you !!

Living in a crazy snow storm right now, almost 4 feet of snow....wishing I was in Negril right now, lol!

things to must see. Go to Ricks Cafe, Chukka ziplines, Pelican Bar black river safari. Where you are located you can walk the beach north towards Sandals, You can rent jet skis or para sailing. Also go to Margarettaville. Restaraunts that are really good are Push Cart, Rock house, There is a night club called the Jungle which is fun. You can walk outside on the main road and wont have any problems. If you are to take a taxi, make sure it has red license plate and if you like your driver get his phone number and use him again. The wild thing catamaran which is near your hotel has a nice day trip with snorkeling. Also Chukka horseback riding or atv

I would disagree with Margaritaville in Negril as a must do - pass by if you are in the area, have a drink - but not for food or any length of time.

Many options for nightlife - Alfreds, Bourbon Beach, Roots Bamboo all have live music - Seastar on the cliffs has an all you can eat buffet and show on Sat nights, On the Rock Weds nights - Miyard for some mellow reggae and local food -

Miss Sonia's on the beach road, Ozzie's jerk shack, fish and chips at Alfreds, Breakfast at Moms, LTU Pub, Canoe Bar,....

So many options! You can eat as cheaply or costly as you wish -

Just take a walk on the beach, you will find out about snorkeling, where the live music is that night. Best of the West jerk is just across the street, you can get food and drinks from vendors on the beach. White Sands bar has daily specials, very close to Coco.

Search this board and look at recent posts, there's tons of info on where to eat, drink, excursions, concerts, etc.

This will be my 4th trip to Negril and I have yet to do any excursions, the sand gravity is very strong there.

Nice move not staying at an AI, you'll have a great time.

Best thing to do is ask at the hotel for a recommendation on what is going on right now and a driver that will either stay with you or will return at a designated time.

Places to eat, dance, and be merry vary each night and of course, depend greatly on taste. I cannot say there are any must-do items however for myself I try to visit Cosmos and LTU on a regular basis, enjoy Kuyaba for brunch sometimes, and my wife is partial to Catch a Falling Star.

A list of what's generally happening can be seen at http://www.road2negril.com/activities.html - this is just a general list, unique opportunities are always cropping up when you are in town.

The most important thing is to enjoy your holiday in Negril!

When are you going? If you'll be in Negril on a Tuesday anytime before the end of March, Negril Escape - a hotel on the cliffs - has a music series featuring well known Reggae artists. The concerts are really well produced and the venue is lovely.

Definetely agree with forget Margaritaville. The one in Negril is not a happening place and has VERY high prices. Rick's is atleast a must see, you will never see anything like what you do there again. YS Falls was another for me but that is quite a day trip.
