Where to stay in Negril

Hi -

We are three couples traveling with our three adult children, one 20 and two are 19. We are trying to decide where to stay. It seems there are so many choices.

All inclusive or not. Rent a vacation home or not. We would like to be close to restaurants, shopping etc. as we won't have a car. It seems some of the all inclusive’s are meant for families with small children or just coulples. We don’t want party central but do like having social time and our kids don’t mind hanging with us (most of the time). Would like to stay in the mid price range. Any ideas?

Thanks -

.

Perhaps the Beach House Villas would work. negrilonestop.com/beachhousevillas_rates.sht…

For some all inclusives that are not for adults only and are not for famalies with small children consider: Breezes Grand Negril, RIU Palace Tropical Bay and RIU Negril. All have 200 or more rooms, on the beach, with one or more pools plus lots of other features. The Breezes has had some very good prices of late. The RIU Palace is a bit more up scale than the other two.

If you are interested in AI, look at Grand Pineapple (owned by Sandals). It's a very nice, small AI that does not really cater to kids. We have loved it there, and it is mid beach and close to alot of places!

Another option is a villa with a cook. Places like Nirvana and Crystal Waters are on a great part of the beach and you can save some money (and eat great food) by having them cook some meals for you.

The "kids" will love walking the beach, checking out various bars and can go to the reggae concerts at night.

Add www.rondelvillage.com to your list of places to look into.

They have both rooms and 1,2 or 3 bedroom villas for rent with full kitchens (really saves on the food budget when you have your own kitchen you can stock)

There is a restaurant and beach bar, as well as two pools/whirpools (one at each property - beach side and road side)

Great staff that includes security and they are mid beach located.

You can find them on the map of negril at www.negrilinfo.com

We just booked two weeks at Catcha with our 20,21 year old girls. They thought it was a great place.

Thanks for the suggestions - we will check them out.

I thought I read that Breezes Grand Negril has a nude beach. True? If so it's not the place for us.

Breezes Grand Negril has two separate beach areas with one that is clothing optional.

We stayed at Lemer luxury villas on our last trip. We really find the place amazing. We didn't know the place until a family friend recommended to book there. It is owned by a nice and lovely couple Coleman & Karen (retired attorneys from South Carolina).

In fact we were able to save due to the 20% tax that other places charge! yes we have experienced this from other resorts/hotel where we stayed in our previous trips.

What I also like about the villas are the full kitchen (cooking and snack holding) - you can see some pictures here:
