What should be budget per day for food & drinks - US$?

Let me start by saying we normally stay at all inclusive resorts when we vacation in Jamaica. This time we decided to mix it up by staying on the cliffs at LeMirage. We understand LeMirage includes a continental breakfast but we may also go for a full breakfast. Probably a lighter lunch and nice dinner but not Rockhouse nice every night. We are not big drinkers but do enjoy the usual tropical drinks - rum punch, hummingbirds, dirty bananas maybe a rum cream on ice.

I agree with Aussie. Some days you may use more, some less but its always better to have more then less. Keep in mind things like tips, drivers, any excursions and souveniers.

Just returned today and I usually do non-all inclusive. I keep a small bottle of rum and soda in my room for personal uses. If you plan to eat up and down 7 mile beach, think $15 or so for breakfast, around $20 for lunch with an alcoholic drink and tip, between $30-40 for dinner with an alcoholic drink. I was there for 5 days and didnt even spend $500 on meals and drinks.

Really depends on where you're planning to eat. If you're gonna eat large extravagant dinners like Rockhouse, it will be more. But there are great places to eat, especially recommend Idle Awhile for dinner and sun beach for lunch. Sun Beach also had great Rum punch.

Hope this helps!

For us $200 a day would include a lot more than just food and drink, would also would include scooter rental, grocery store shopping and some other purchases. $15-$20 for breakfast, $20-$25 for lunch and $30-$50 for dinner is more than generous on average, so top end $95 add $20 in juice, snacks etc on the beach or a few cocktails, $25-$30 for scooter, still leaves $50 for more drinks, a splurge dinner, shopping etc..

$150 would be pretty easy on average and $100 is do-able.

Just Natural in the cliffs - breakfasts are great and very inexpensive, same for lunches and dinners.

Sips N Bites in the cliffs, very inexpensive dinners.

Eddie's De Bar - good for lunch

Out of Town Pastry - good patties for a cheap lunch

and many more great low/reasonable cost spots...

$200 a day and you are comfortable. Nothing worse than thinking, 'hope we've got enough cash to see us through'. Then again, the hole in the wall is a magic place!!!!

My experience has been an average over a week of $120 per day for 2 people (including route taxis) and we eat comfortably. We also buy some beverages and snack to keep in the room fridge which helps. Definitely no more than $150 for a budget is necessary in my opinion.
