Thankfully, Jamaica did not adopt the UK electrical plugs.

This made me laugh - not sure why it was written.

<< Thankfully, Jamaica did not adopt the UK electrical plug >>

Many Jamaicans settled in the UK with the aim of earning money and building a fine house back in Jamaica. They had experience of the cheap flimsy electrical fittings of Ja and the sturdy quality of the UK fittings. Many decided their house had to have some of the quality UK fittings, so they self imported. Those fittings are now in demand. So much so that they can be purchased from electrical dealers in Ja. Dealers in the plural - there's at least 4 in Kingston alone. If anyone wants to check, I can supply phone numbers. I also have a photo of a dealer's window display in Kingston - the quality fittings alongside the cheap and nasty. lol

In a room I stayed in at the Waterloo Guest House, Black River, earlier this year, there was both a Ja and a UK socket. One was broken - no prizes for guessing which!
