Scuba in Samuel's Bay Marine Park (near Rhodes Resort)?

Hi,

I have been to Negril many times and have gone scuba diving every time. I've been to nearly all of the dive sites off of 7 mile beach and a few by the cliffs.

I saw "Samuel's Bay National Marine Park" on a map by Rhodes Resort and then noticed that Rhodes Resort mentions scuba on their website. I have read some info about snorkeling off of Rhodes Resort, but I haven't been able to find much info about the dive sites there. Has anyone gone scuba diving up there? How do the sites compare to the ones off of 7 mile beach? Is the coral in better shape? More fish?

I wouldn't mind trying something new, but I have no idea if it's worth the extra time in travel or if decent scuba sites really exist there.

It does seem like the reef is shallow, but Rhodes Hall's website mentions: "Snorkel our one mile of healthy coral reef along the shallows, or ride out further to Snorkel, Scuba Dive or Fish beyond the reef in our Glass Bottom Boat."

So I was wondering if there are other dive sites up there besides the ones near 7 mile beach/Bloody Bay.

Give a call or email to one of the local dive places. (A search or 2 will get you some leads... perhaps http://www.scubacaribe.com/riu_negril_en.htm ?)

They'll know and be glad to give you the scoop.
