300.00 deposit at CSA at check in????

Just read a review that CSA asks for a 300.00 deposit at check in. No bother as long as they "refund" it properly upon leaving if there are no incidents. Have has issues with other resorts not crediting a credit card correctly and turns into a headache.

Any feedback??

We had no issues with the deposit. We had bought a few things at the gift shop and our deposit was refunded at check out minus the amount of the purchases. The resort works on a cashless system so the deposit is not just for damages, but purchases as well. It was nice not to have to carry cash around.

The complete deposit is available for charges during your stay. When you check out, the $300 minus any charges you have incurred at the resort ( the spa, beauty shop, gift shop, wine purchases, night snorkeling, scuba certification etc...) will be charged to your card.

So if you use the spa, then yes they will remove that money from your deposit.

If you chose however, you can pay for resort charges with cash or another form of payment at check out. Many people do not like to use their credit cards in a foreign country ( most credit cards charge a fee for it's use outside the USA).

If you do not use your credit card for anything, your credit card will never show a charge for the $300 deposit. They destroy the form at check out.

this really is getting to be the norm at all the resorts we have stayed at between jamaica and mexico. knock on wood, we have never had any problems. plus, i do like to just charge things to the room, so i have always willingly put a credit card on the room for the spa, and gift shop.
