CN Review. Bye bye CSA...

Our last visit here was May 2011. We have been to CSA numerous times and decided to give CN another go for our Labor weekend vaca. I am sooooooooo grateful we did!!! This place has it going on. When we checked in they greeted us by name (nice touch :)), and said your room is ready (room I had requested) and handed us our Champagne that we requested as a Romance Rewards member. We also received our couples massage voucher as well as Repeater's Dinner invite! So smooth! We had a Beachfront Deluxe, very clean, great AC, water pressure in shower great and NO bugs ever!!!! Housekeeping was wonderful, loved Stephanie! She was always smiling and singing:D

The beach is BEAUTIFUL! Calm, clear, warm waters and very little vendor traffic. The staff here were great. I do not understand the negative posts about the staff... I believe it may be the attitude of the guest! Food was "Dee Wish Ous"!!! Loved our dinner at Lychee. We had the appetizer sampler, Pad Thai with shrimp & beef and then Hubby ordered the beef strip medium rare with yellow curry/lemongrass sauce. OMG Becky, soooooooooo good! It was like Buttah! Taylor took care of us and she was a hoot!

We finally went to a Repeater's Dinner after 9 trips.... The GM Ricardo sat next to us!

What a truly great person. If you notice, he responds to the reviews here. He was so easy to talk to! They are in the process of renovating big time!!! Bathrooms, Spa etc.

PS, dinner was Awesome!!! Thank you!

Thanks Ricardo for taking such good care and having a true interest in keeping this a wonderful resort!!!

The food at the buffet was really good. I know it can be hard to keep up with all the offerings, but they did it!

A shout out to Balard (sp?) in the EC crew. He made Ping Pong a blast for my hubby:) We will look for you this December!!!

Nude beach was great! Had the pick of chairs, shade or no shade and Amay was a sweet heart!

We have chosen CN over CSA now because: beach has less foot traffic, resort east to navigate, check in and check out process a breeze, waters very calm, pool area nice and big,

staff wonderful, food was yummy!!! Suites here offer in room dining/evening hors d'oeuvres, will take advantage of this in December!!!

The only thing I missed was the a la carte breakfast that CSA offers at Patois.

Ricardo, can the beach grill not offer that??????

Also hubby requested I mention this, we had premium liquor choices at all bars. Not sure of the negative comments on that one either...

Thank you CN and see you Dec 20th :)

We too went to CN instead of CSA this year. I have to agree, that CN is really doing a lot around the resort, to step in up a level. Major renovations, the offering now of in room dining for suites, major cleaning around the resort, and truly trying to change things that people have complained about in the past.

I have been working on my review, and my problem is I truly can not think of one complaint about our trip ( I hate reviews that are 100 % positive). I even asked my husband, and he said it was as close to perfect as any trip we have ever experienced ( and that says ALOT). Husband has already stated that we are returning to CN for our next to Jamaica.

I agree about Ricardo being a very nice man. We have sat with him our last 3 returnee dinners ( 2 at CSA and this year at CN), and he has a personality for excellence. He hears a complaint , he takes it very seriously and looks at ways of making changes. He was telling us he has had all these plans for changes in his head since he took over CN, but since the economy fall, his budget has been very limited. However, now that things are going better with the travel industry, he now has the resources to make the changes he would like to see, and he is doing it.

We both traveled at a good time, because we saw many of the changes, renovations and cleaning occurring because of low season just starting.

When we were leaving Ricardo came out to wish us well, and he asked where we will return to for our next trip. I can honestly say, it is going to be a hard call.

Wow, Norwegian, that's huge, because you have been a huge fan of CSA for years. Was thinking of going to CN again for next trip. Has been about 3 years since last there. Good to hear about all of the great work of the GM. I agree that a stay on Bloody Bay is always different from a stay on Long Bay.

There was hot saki at Lychee earlier in the summer. I would assume it is still an option. I really enjoyed it!

We had a wonderful time at CN in July but will CSA remains our favorite and that is where we will return next time to JA. We prefer the grounds, the rooms, the entertainment, the sports complex and the martini bar, as well as the restaurants at CSA. But CN was a great experience.

From what I have read CSA also has renovations occurring around the resort, so I am sure I will see improvements when we return.

All the things you mentioned caviargal are things I also really love about CSA ( plus Patois, we ate there every day for breakfast our last trip). Seagrapes too, love to eat lunch on the beach , and LOVE their menu . Also, in addition to the grounds, I really like the beach better at CSA ( however, husband preferred CN). However, both beaches are truly excellent.

However, due to my husbands orthopedic problems, it was nice being at CN. I personally love the long walk from one end of the property to another at CSA, but things at night too often happen in phases from one end of the resort to the other.

If you eat at Feathers or Patois , it is a long way back to the martini bar or the nightly show. Eat at the Palms or Lemongrass it is a long walk back to the Piano Bar or nightclub. For this reason, we would usually only utilize one end of the resort a night. However, this spread out style is why CSA never feels crowded, and why it is so easy to find a private spot.

At CN, we went to the piano bar almost every night before dinner for our coffeetini. We would have an early dinner, and sit and enjoy the beach ( I like the beach swings), and my husband would have his after dinner cigar. If it was too early we would walk back to our room to relax, and then head back out for the nightly show or event. After the show , we could go back to our room or head to the piano bar or both. Also all the evening events happened around the pool or beach area ( example- manager's cocktail party, chocolate sunset , casino night ), so again we would attend these events but usually would not at CSA ( mainly because of the walk). So, while CSA has more going on, we probably did more events as a couple as CN, because of it's set up. Also, I really like the large tiki torches that they have lit around the pool area at CN, great ambiance at night.

I am considering trading my husband in for a younger model, but it is just to much work to have to re- train a new one : )

Great review!

I'm curious ... what's the average age of guests at Couples Negril?
