Ok,,Yes it would,,,,

I've been there 8 or some times in the past year,,On my way down again end of May

for the price and what you get,,, YES for sure ....

It does have a dance club..But there are only a dozen or so people in it at night,,

There are bars close by that are popular on certain nights of the week,,,,,

The pool bar during the day and the bar in front of the nightly entertainment always is jumping,

Drive time from the airport to the hotel is 1 hr. 20 min. or so one way. If transfers are not part of a tour package they can be arranged in advance or at the airport in Montego Bay. For your transfer options see the following

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g147309-s301/Jamaica:…

The RIU Clubhotel Negril is the first hotel come to in Negril. It is 7 miles to downtown Negril.

The hotel is the largest hotel in Negril.

On one side of the hotel a condo project is being constructed. On the other side of the hotel another large hotel is being constructed.

You will need to take a taxi to reach any places in Negril such as places to eat, drink, or shop. Other than other large all inclusive resorts and a handful of beach stalls, there is nothing within 2 miles or so.

For things to do see the following

Club RIU is located on the Bloody Bay section of the 7 mile beach. It is known as the quiet beach with few off-resort facilities. The best beach bar is adjacent to RIU Palace Tropical Bay; it is called Office of Nature.

Club RIU is a family resort and, because of the price model, there will be a lot of kids everywhere.

The beach is man-made from the limestone from the foundation excavation for the room blocks. The original beach was a bit swampy on the very north end and Mother Nature is reclaiming that condition. Have read that water shoes are recommended.

Have read that Sandals has fenced off the area (not the beach) adjacent to Club RIU in anticipation of building a 400 room Beaches resort (the current Negril Beaches on Long Bay has 215 rooms).

All motorized watersports (such as a snorkel excursion to the nearby reefs) come with a fee.

RIU is designed to appeal to international visitors with lots of glitz and marble thus it could be on any island in any sea; you will barely know you are in Jamaica except for the Jamaican staff. Minimal local food at meals. Having said that, the bar beer is Red Stripe and Red Stripe Lite; foreign beer is available in the sundry shop.

THE nightclub in Negril is called The Jungle; Thursday is ladies night.

An interesting day/afternoon trip is a visit to Long Bay, the 5 mile section of the 7-mile beach. Suggest entry at M'ville but do not linger there (too expensive and mediocre food). Facing the water, turn right and head toward Country Country for an excellent sit down meal (think lobster in season/conch soup in season). Facing the water, turn left and begin your journey along the beach for bars, pubs, eateries, crafts vendors. Have read that close-by Tony's has JA$150 Red Stripe in bottles. Of course, do plan to use taxis both ways.

Worth mentioning, the property is closing down for refurb in August until November. Seen plenty of examples with properties in the past where standards drop before renovations are due.
