Has anyone heard of the resort called " The Grand Palladium

This resort is half way between Montego Bay and Negril. It is soooo BIG that they use golf carts to get you from place to place. I understand that there are 26 restaurants and approx. 16 bars. They are not done building yet. They want to build across the street from the entrance to include a casino which hasn't been approved because the church is fighting this. When this resort is finished, it will be the largest resort in Jamaica. This resort is being built by one man who is doing this for his grandson. Wait until you go by this resort on your way to Negril. It is incredible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incredibly isolated and detached from anything remotely Jamaican IMO!!

It's already massive, you could be on holiday anywhere if you went on holiday here. It is indeed a self contained resort.

Not my cup of tea

Way too big for the amount of beach they have. Way too big for my tastes, by about a factor of 5. Bigger is not always better.

While in the airport for my return flight recently I chatted with a couple who stayed there. They hated it, and had lots of reasons why. I tried to get them to understand that Jamaica as a whole is not like this one resort. Don't think I was successful.

The resort has 1056 rooms which makes it the largest in Jamaica. Construction of those rooms have be completed for years.

The church is not fighting full function casinos as Jamaica parliament has approved a law which defines the terms and conditions that a resort must conform to for a casino. The terms are very difficult.

The owner of the Palladium had (past tense) plans to expand their resort by another 1000 (or so) rooms which would have qualified it for a casino, but they canceled expansion plans because the ownership of the land they intended to use was in doubt. So no further construction and there will be no casino at the Palladium.

There are 7 a la carte eateries, 3 buffet eateries, 13 bars. [Where did you get your numbers?]

It is an incredible resort: an incredible blight on what was a beautiful section of Jamaica.

As a footnote, there is a new resort near MoBay that has received permission for a casino; I do not think construction has yet begun. It is called Celebration Jamaica.

I don't even think the "rich and famous" will stay here. There are better places.
