Port Antonio

My wife and I are in need of some advice on a place to stay in Port Antonio, Looking for someplace clean with A/C and with a good view, other than that we can deal with the rest. My wife and I have been to the island several times before (Negril) did the all inclusive deals and am totally sick of it. We just want a place to spend 2 weeks away from it all. We love to do day trips and don't really spend much time in the room anyways... Any advice will greatly be appreciated!

Also I would like to add that we don't want to spend a ton of money, but just some options of different places to look into. Thanks again! Tiptop

My suggestion is Goblin Villas which is close to Frenchmans Cove beach, the blue Lagoon, Port Antonio etc, definitely recommended.

We very much enjoyed Fern Hill. It's near Goblin Hill but is less $$, and has a restaurant/bar onsite. Standard rooms are $79, the suites are $99 (we took one of htose). Great views, nice rooms, ac/tv etc, and free passes to San San beach.

A trip report with a link to our photos, we took a lot of the hotel and rooms and pools: alink.com/personal/liz/negril/2003trip.htm

(Go to about day 3 for the Port Antonio part)

DeMontevin Lodge is the best place. Simple, clean, great people and close to everything- with a great view. It is wonderful!

Sorry to disappoint but Reich Falls is closed. It has been for some time now.

Not really...Reich is officially closed but you can still go. A friend of mine just came back about 3 months ago and went, they paid the guys at the gate $3 apiece, I think.

You need a driver that knows someone up there oris willing to take you anyway.

My wife and I got married at Trident Castle last december and it was absolutely beautiful. Trident really is stunning. Trident villas were closed at the time after hurricane Ivan, but they may have reopened since - speak to Suzanne Levy at Trident. Many of our guests were very happy at the Jamaica Palace hotel which is lovely (speak to Sigi or Mr Gasch) - we have stayed there a number of times and would recommend it. You may also like to try hotel mockingbird - we havent stayed there but the restaurant is first class. Hope that helps

The Jamaican Palace is definitely the place to go. Excellent service, large rooms and excellent food.

I spent a week at ocean crest guest house located on titchfield hill (inexpensive and clean with a/c) The owners name is Mrs Jones. She is very friendly and nice. You can contact her to make reservations if you are interested.
