First time at JRB, questions on restaurants

Just booked our first trip to Jamaica, going the end of July/begining of August. traveling with husband and 13yr old son, staying at Jewel Runaway Bay due to the reviews I have read on here, wanted to know how hard it is to get restaurant reservations and what the dress code is for the restaurants?

The only restuarant you will need reservations for is the Japanese. You can make those arangment either days before or early the morning of. There will be multible seatings. For this restuarant the dress code is resort casual. Same for the buffet and pizza. The italian restuarant men will be required to wear a collard shirt and no less then "dress" short & "dress" sandals". By dress is would mean no cutoffs or flip flops.

Feel free to contact me with ANY questions about this beautiful resort.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the information. Also was wondering about tipping in the restaurant, how much is appropriate? I assume we will take plenty of ones for tipping for drinks but was not sure about restuarants and buffet.

Tipping is allowed but not required. With that being said the amount is up to you. Keep in mind that 1 US dollar is worth approx 98 JA dollars. Give what you feel your service was worth.

I have been to the property four times when it was Jamaica Jamaica and Breezes but never as Jewel. We have stayed five or six times at FDR next door. I was happy when it became child friendly so I could bring my son as it is in my opinion the perfect size resort. Not too big and not too small. I referred some friends there over spring break this past year who brought their eight year old twin boys and they loved it. They travel several times a year and never to back to the same place twice but are considering a trip back in the fall. High praise from them.
