RDCC-Money exchange

I learnt something new on my recent trip to RDCC so I thought I would share with you. I usually take my Jamaican dollars with me, I got a rate of 132 from M&S which I thought was good. I used the cash machine at L&M meat to withdraw some Jamaican dollars and was pleasantly surprised to get a rate of 146! Ok you have to pay £1 or thereabouts to withdraw but the rate is much better. Make sure you tell your bank your are travelling prior to departure and you should have no problems.

I know where I will be getting my currency from next time!

When you go to Jamaica, or to almost any country on earth, it is normally better to convert your normal money to the currency of your destination when you reach your destination. If you need the currency of the destination country the very moment you get off the plane then only get the amount you need until you can do an exchange in the destination country. Normally this would be money for a taxi ride to your hotel, a bit for a tip for the hotel bellman and a meal or two. Then find a bank, a cambio, an ATM, etc. to exchange more money as needed.
