@Red Dragon, the departure tax is J$1800pp. At a previous exchange rate it would have been US$22, it is now about $18pp. This however is irrellevant if it is already in your ticket. Who did you book your package with?

For administrative convenience, the prices are fixed at JD1800, US$22 and £16. At today's exchange rates in Jamaica, JD1800 =US17 = £11. Looking at it this way, it is obviously cheaper to pay in JD, assuming that you changed you £ to JD after you arrived in JM.

The money is collected by the check-in staff. If you check in as a group, you will of course be charged as a group.

Please remember to pay with the correct amount, without expecting change? I have not been given change on a number of occassions.

Have a nice Jamaican experience.

1november, are you saying that UK-based air carriers do not include the departure tax as a component of the total airfare?

There is also a new entry fee of USD20, which should be included in the airfare as there is no procedure to collect money on entry into Jamaica (except for customs fees).

All taxes including departure tax are already paid in your ticket at the time of purchase. The only rare exceptions are with some charter flights originating out of Europe.
